Guest guest
Kismet ka grah : planet denoting destiny. This I believe is the most important planet in any horoscope. Although we may not be able to change the planet, but we can at least be careful not to do any such thing which might turn the planet into a malefic. If possible we can make efforts to appease this planet. Suppose Saturn happens to be a planet of destiny in a horoscope, then we should try to be as virtuous as possible, no extra marital affairs, no false witnesses, must be courteous to those who do manual labor , be kind and helpful to those who are visually handicapped and so on. To appease the Saturn the best thing would be to recite the stotra for Saturn. Nothing appeases more than singing the praises that too ending with sentiments like ‘ sharanamyaham’ .. I come to thy shelter or pranamamyaham…I bow to thee. The planet of destiny has to be kept in good humor all the time. In the Janma Kundali: [ a ] First find out the planet/s which are exalted and well established in every sense. If none is found fulfilling this criteria then have a look at the planets placed in the Kendra houses [ 1,4,7,10 ] if none found even there then move to the 9th house, if none found in the 9th then move to the 2nd house, 6th house, or even the 12th house. [ b ] I go about it slightly differently. I look at the 9th house and the planet placed in that house. If the planet placed in the 9th house is a qayam grah, [well established and not afflicted] then that planet will be the planet of destiny. In case there is no planet in the 9th house then the 9th lord [ lord of the rasi in the 9th house ] should be considered. If the 9th lord is a well placed, not afflicted planet then it should be considered as the planet of destiny. Here I personally use the shadbal [ six fold strength ] of a planet to verify the strength of the planet. I also take into account the Ishta phal and the Kashta phal of the planet. These are the traditional Vedic astrology tools which are very useful and handy. [ c ] If there is no planet in the 9th house and the 9th lord too is afflicted then we should look for the planet of destiny from the Kendra houses [ 1,4,7, & 10]. The same exercise of identifying the strongest and well placed planet has to be carried out once again. Which ever planet placed in the Kendra is the strongest and well placed will act as a planet of destiny. [ d ] If there are more than one well established and strong planets then all of them will act as the planets of destiny. [ e ] If by any chance the planet thus identified is dormant, then all efforts should be made to awaken that planet. Awakening of that planet will ensure an awakened destiny. [ f ] One should, under no circumstances, do any thing which could turn the planet of destiny into a malefic. [ g ] In my own experience I have found that Jupiter is the most benevolent and tolerant planet of destiny. In the Varsh Phal Kundali : If a planet gets placed in the 2nd house then that planet will, as a planet of destiny, have precedence over the planet identified in the Janma Kundali. Suppose the Moon was identified as the planet of destiny in the Janma Kundali, and if a Saturn gets placed in the 2nd house in the Varsh phal then for that year the Saturn will act as a planet of destiny. In case , in the example above, there is no planet in the 2nd house of the Varsh Phal kundali, then the moon, continues to act as a planet of destiny [ my opinion] Bhooshan Priya Next : Dhoke ke grah / uncertain planets

Guest guest
Respected Goyal ji, Thank you so much for your table. It is a helpful contribution. If there are more than one planet in the 2nd house in a varsh phal then the planet which is best placed or Qayam should be taken as the planet of destiny. You could also evaluate the planets for their strength [ rupabal ] and the strongest of them all should be accepted as the planet of the destiny.
