They seem to be an exercise more into diversionary tactics than to seek truth. Let us get back to our main agenda of an effort to understand the book through logic and rationality. Guest guest Posted June 27, 2008 Report Share Posted June 27, 2008 Respected Sharma ji, You are right that the 1942 urdu edition on page 211 line # 4 does give an advice that budha ka upaya madadgar hoga [ an upaya of mercury will help]. Incidentally this advice is not given in the 1952 edition. This is one of the upaya suggested for the Saturn in 5th. There are a few others, depending on the situation. Now let us examine why mercury has been mentioned and how is the mercury related to the Saturn in the 5th house? In my opinion we have to take the help of the Masnuyee components here. If the Saturn is adjudged as malefic then the masnuyee components of the Saturn will be mars + mercury. In the 5th house the mars component is not likely to adversely effect the sun or the Jupiter [ the planets associated with the 5th house] because both of them are the friends of the mars. It is the mercury component which could adversely effect the Jupiter. And that could be the reason why the upaya of mercury had been advised. Now what would be the form of the upaya? In my opinion the best upaya in this case would be to appease mercury. Therefore distributing fruits [ venus ] to the school going kanyas [ girls below 10 years ] could be a good upaya. Gifting clothes to these kanyas could be yet another, but it might be expensive. Would love to hear from other experts too.
