Respected members,

In his life time Pt Roopchand ji never claimed that Lal Kitab is a

different system of astrology. He never claimed to have invented a

new system. He never claimed that Lal Kitab is not a part of

traditional Vedic astrology. He never intended the Lal Kitab to be

treated as different from Vedic astrology. After all, the book was

meant for the astrologers of the day and common men alike. In the

early 40s every astrologer who might have read these books would

have belonged to the traditional Vedic astrology; other paddhatis

like KP, SA, Krushna Ashtakvarg etc had not existed then.

It is after the death of Pt. Roopchand ji, some people, in their

effort to project the book as something divine, some thing

miraculous, some thing out of this world, intentionally propagated

that the Lal Kitab is a system apart, different from Vedic

astrology. They intentionally wove myths around the book shrouding

it into secrecy.

This misplaced enthusiasm did the greatest damage to the book

because the book got reduced to a compilation of toona-totkas. To

make things even worse the then Lalkitabists used the book like a

ready reckoner of totkas. Gullible simple village folks believed

these stories to be true. We can not blame the people because they

found the Lal Kitab upaya very effective. In our culture and our

psyche any effective traditional upaya soon gets accepted as a

powerful totka.

We as a small group, are making every effort to clear away the

misconceptions, whims, and myths associated with the Lal Kitab. Our

effort is to establish the Lal Kitab as a precious [ not pious ]

book on traditional Vedic astrology.

Through this discussion group and the group of our

guru Pt. Bhooshan Priya ji , we have been very successful to carry

our message across to thousands of people both within India and

abroad.

After all the common reader is intelligent enough and he knows who

all are analyzing the Lal Kitab concepts and principles logically

and scientifically. People listen to those who they see as sincere

contributors to the system. The common reader also knows that we are

a group of non-professional astrologers and have no personal

commercial angle to what we say.

Our crusade to enrich the Vedic astrology experience by

incorporating the Lal Kitab knowledge will continue as

enthusiastically as ever.

Regards,

Varun Trivedi
