Just expanding what Kulbir bhai has said:

 

Yes you are right that the nerves and the system of nerves falls

under the karakatwa of Mercury. When the rahu component of mercury

gets poisonous it affects the nerves, specially of the brain.

Disorder of the nerves can be one of the malefic affects of the

Mercury.Maleficity of Mercury could be reflected in other ways also.

 

It is for this reason that the nose piercing is advised whenever the

mercury gets malefic so that the poison gets drained out. This could

be because of the Rahu as one of the Masnuyee components.

 

In the context of a snake bite curing 'adhrang', it is the poison

killing the poison; the poison of Rahu gets cured through the poison

of the snake; so I think.
