Guest guest
Thakur ji, i have just copied the material collected by shri Avtar Singh Gill. retd Sessions judge. contd....Raja Dhiyan singh went to mai easar kaur and said to her to pray for longevity of life and glory and permenance of the kingship and kingdom with respect to kanwar ji (nau nihal singh)after that while the lady was going to burn alive with the blessed head of the sarkar on her thigh, the raja ji requested her with great humility to hand over the tussle (kalgi) which was fixed upon the blessed head of the sarkar to kanwarji, remarking that it would be a cause of increasing the degrees of his kingship and imparting progress to his life and prosperity. But the aforesaid lady struck it against the earth in great anger and displeasure. The other sattis did just the same, they prayed to god that the person who had perpetuated cruelty on the maharaja, deprived him of all authority and power in the state and had ultimately brought his end should also not enjoy sovereignty and should leave the world in the same way . …. After lighting the pyre…….. as the kunwar, made a momentary halt and called for water to drink, as he wanted to be relived from heat of the sun and flames of funeral pyre. None was at hand and all bottles of sacred ganges water, which had been brought to be sprinkled on the pyre were empty. The superstitious sardars, accompanying the promising kunwar, whispered this was an evil omen, but the kanwar just laughed, addressing some jocular remark to his companion, and passed on, unmindful of the catastrophe that was awaiting him and his companion. As the entered the gateway it fell with a great crash and the kanwar and mian udham singh were killed there. Maharaja sher singh succeded him. On September 14, 1843, the most beautiful of maharaja's maharani, Dakhno gave birth to a son. Although in reply to the enquiries made by the maharaja, the pandit reported that the infant's nativity was not favourable, the maharaja spent the night in great festivity little knowing that it would be his last night and a brutal end waited him within next 24 hours. The next morning maharaja sher singh and his son kunwar partap singh were killed by the sandhawaliya sardars. kulbir , " Iqbal Chand Thakur " <thakur.iqbalchand wrote: > > Dear Kulbir ji, > Achha Likha hai.
