Dear Raheja ji,

These three terms are used for three different situations. They are not

mutually interchangeable.

Pitri Rin :

Since we inherit the name, fame and the property of our forefathers, in

the same way we also inherit their sins arising out of the cruelties

they committed during their lifetime. In the Lal Kitab these conditions

have been dealt with in some great detail. The Book lays down three

conditions of planetary placements for it. If, and only if, all the

three conditions are met, the kundali is declared as having Pitri Rin.

Pitri Shraap :

It is the curse placed by the forefathers on the future generations for

having been maltreated, ignored by their progeny or for discontinuing

the family tradition. The curse of the Kul Devta also comes under this

category. There are no specific planetary combinations mentioned for

this situation, both in the Vedic astrology or the Lal Kitab. The

condition and the nature of problems of the native could give an

indication for this dosh in the horoscope.

Pitri Dosh :

It is the dosh where a person is denied a male progeny. It has been

exhaustively described in the Vedic astrology as Pitri Dosh, but not in

the Lal Kitab. The traditional vedic astrology gives quite a few

planetary combinations denoting this dosh. This dosh in the kundali is

also known as Sarp Shraap or Sarp Dosh.

Sincerely,

Chandra Prakash
