Respected Naveen ji,

 

[ 1 ] If the conditions are not met, then the longevity should not

be doubtful.

But then longevity doesn't depend on any single planet. There could

be other factors affecting longevity.

In this case the longevity will not be threatened by Rahu in the

8th if the conditions are not met.

 

[ 2 ] Yes, immersing lead pieces is the upaya of choice. Yes one

could keep a square piece of silver with him. Square piece is Mangal

shubh which would keep rahu under control. Over and above these

there could be some precautions also like one sould not live in a

house facing south; or if there is a dhaba or restaurant by the side

of the house then one should, now and then, throw a copper coin into

the bhatti of that dhaba. The effect of rahu in the 8th will get

nullified if there is an elderly person who is tall, healthy, and

dark { like an elephant } in the house.
