Guest guest
Dear Kulbir Bhai, My two cents ! Gems as remedies find no mention in classical literature of astrology. At the most some later Vedic astrology Gurus have mentioned them, along with less expensive alternatives, as items of ‘daan’ { religious gift} to pacify the planets { for grah shanti }. It is a very recent phenomenon when astrologers started prescribing gems as a remedy to strengthen or appease planets because it became a very lucrative business for astrologers in connivance with jewelers. Yes, Pandit ji has mentioned gems as karak objects of various planets, except for the Saturn. But mentioning karaks is one thing but suggesting the use of gems as remedies is another. Pandit ji has not suggested the use of gems for either appeasement of the planets or strengthening them except in the case of Ketu. In a couple of case for Ketu he has mentioned “ do ranga patthar†or hauldali { cats eye }. The other context where Pandit ji has recommended gems, of course along with less expensive alternatives, is the ‘shaadi ke waqt upaya’. They are prescribed to be immersed in a river. Here again the gems are being used in the traditional context , of course slightly different, where instead of gifting they are advised to be immersed in a river. Even otherwise Pandit ji wouldn’t have prescribed gems because he believed in less expensive ethnic remedies. That is the spirit of the Lal Kitab. The perception that the Lal Kitab doesn’t recommend gems, in general, as remedies is true. Those who might be interested in further study can go to the files of the group and read two articles on gems and ethnic remedies.
