Guest guest
Dear Group, I've only now realised that the mail sent by Jolly Anupam refers to a religious festival (22 Mar). Here of course it's Easter...an important celebration in the Christian calendar, and my attention (naturally) has been on this special celebration and all that it signifies. However, that's no excuse for dismissing the previous mail as I did, and I should apologise to Jolly Anupam in particular and Hindus in general for not being aware of this (Holi) festival... I just wasn't 'switched-on' to what he was trying to convey when I responded to what I thought was just some sort of spam mail...?? Guest guest
Dear Mrs.Wendy, Its fine. One living abroad is not expected to know the numerous festiveals of India. Even being a Indian myself, I am not aware of many festivals held in South of India. Yesterday in India 3 festivals appeared on a single day. Holi (Important for the Hindus) Easter (Catholics) Eid ( Moslems) regards, Bhaskar. jyotish-vidya , " Wendy Vasicek " <jyotishvidya wrote: > > Dear Group, > > I've only now realised that the mail sent by Jolly Anupam refers to a > religious festival (22 Mar). Guest guest
Wendy ji, ///However, that's no excuse for dismissing the previous mail as I did, and I should apologise to Jolly Anupam in particular and Hindus in general for not being aware of this (Holi) festival/// No issues! :-) BTW, one of the stories about Holi refers to Prahalada and the Narasimha avatara. Holika, sister of Hiranyakashipu, had a boon from Agni, who promised NOT to ever burn her. She hugged Prahalada and sat on a pyre. But Prahalada, who was meditating on the Supreme, was saved by Him--Holika was burnt to ashes. When God favours, poison gives life and fire turns cool. BTW, Holika, who is also called Simhika, is the mother of Rahu/Ketu, the Simhika Putras. ~~~~~~~~~ Balaji Narasimhan Author & Editor http://www.balaji.ind.in/ ~~~~~~~~~ ______________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile.
