Guest guest
Dear All, The variations brought out by tw are really commendable and go on to prove the authenticity of the various softwares being used today. A querist believes that the he would be provided the the right and precise answers to his query. Astrologers following KP systems are doing a yeomen service in helping out the needy. However, answers can go pretty off the mark with such marked deviations. That was precisely the reason why Mr Krishnamurthy developed these ingenious methods. While his methods of timing of events are methodical, results can go awry with these marked differences. If jyotish has to develop as a pure science for the beenfit of entire mankind, calculations must also be accurate. In this age of computation, programmers have to develop the right programs. Rajsekharan's efforts are as commendable as the critical analysis by the rest of the group members. Generally all published tables have utilised the results of interpolation; this was taught to all of us in the middle school, classes VI, VII and VII. While doing these interpolations manually is easy, putting them in a program is not as easy. The reason is the large amount of data to be integrated - e.g. 27 Nakshatra divided as per Vimshottari dasha systems for the nine planets, depending on the rulership of each nakshatra. While I not criticising any one, the programmer's choice of the most suitable software for development, whether it is VB, VC, C, C++ or any other, for that matter, has to be judicious. For programming, one can follow either the top down or bottom up approach. Adopting any single approach would lead to errors. We are aware of the total dasha periods and its breakup in the fixed ratios over the 120 years period. A simple obvious solution then is to conduct analysis top down; commencing from the mahadasha period broken into antar, pratyantar, sookshma and so on upto 5 or 6 levels as desired. While breaking up the periods convert the mahadasha and other dashas into number of days, not months and years. This would eliminate the totalling errors and the ambiguity of 28, 29, 30 or 31 days months. The breakdown can go down to hours, minutes and seconds - at 4th, 5th or 6th level it would be necessary to do so. Once all periods have been broken up the lowest desired level, adopt the bottom up approach totalling every stage to the next higher up. I am sure this process of dis-integration and synthesis would not lead to any errors. Once all calculation is done in days, it is not difficult to convert the same into months and years and remove the entire anamoly of 360 and 365... days year. Not to forget that the globally used Gregorian calendar has to be incorporated in the program, mentioning the number of days in every month and 29 days of February for leap years. Our ancient Hindu calendars were simpler - months were based on lunar movement and an ADHIMAS month was added every two and a half years for synchronisation with the sun. I do not wish to hurt any one's feelings or brush aside the entire efforts of Rajsekharan in one go. I am not aware which method he is following or what methods have been followed by the others who have put their softwares on the net for easy accessibility and usage by all concerned. My intention is merely to guide the programmers who may be feeling stuck up at some stage. With best wishes and luck to every one, Amitabh --- tw853 <tw853 wrote: Dear All, For academic purpose and information a comparison is as shown below. S.N.
