Guest guest
Dear Learned Members, Regarding Ron's question (messages 853, 854 & 855), I would like to learn from your esperience and exchange views by giving my observation below. With my best regards, Tin Win The dual lordship of a house would be the case with an intercepted sign, i.e. a sign that falls between two adjacent house cusps, but neither of those house cusps are in that sign, also called the `floater'. In the KP Reader III `PREDICTIVE STELLEAR ASTROLOGY' (August 1984 Fourth Edition), Part Two, the 1-00 Cancer rising chart in p. 173 has Libra & Aries signs intercepted, relating to the 4th & 10th houses because no cusp falls in these signs, since the 4th cusp is at 27-56 Virgo, 5th 0-26 Scorpio, M.C. 27-56 Pisces and 11th 0-56 Taurus. In p. 174, under the sub-heading of `LENGTH OF SERVICE', Gurujee K. S. Krishnamurti says " --- the second house extends from 26- 56 Cancer to 25-56 Leo. Even though only 43m in Cancer happens to be in the second Bhava and 25-56 is the extension of the second house in Leo owned by Sun, the lord of the second house for predicting finance, fortune etc is Moon. " It means, as Hasmukhrai J Mehta mentions in message 854 and KSK's son K. Hahiharan says in his books, that the lord of 2nd house is Moon, the lord of the sign where the cusp falls. In p. 175, after mentioning in the table that Bhava- Lord of the Bhava 4 is `Mercury', and Bhava 10 `Jupiter', Gurujee KSK says, " The Meridian, i.e. the cusp of the 10th house falls at 27-56 in Pisces, extends all the 30 degree of Aries and ends at 0-56 Taurus and the lord of the house is Jupiter. " The lords of intercepted Aries sign, Mars, relating to the 10th house and Libra sign, Venus, relating to the 4th house are not mentioned. Also referring to the 29-26-40 Libra rising chart in p. 200 of Reader III, Part Two, under the sub-heading " REINSTATEMENT IN SERVICE, Gurujee KSK says in p. 202, " 2nd house is vacant; lord is Mars. " Again the lord of the `intercepted' Sagittarius sign is not mentioned even though the 2nd house commencing from 29-18-55 Scorpio and ending 0-18-55 Capricorn. However, in the exactly same example in his three KP Readers, (i) KP Reader III, Part One, p. 139-144, (ii) KP Reader V `TRANSIT' (Sept 1983 Fourth Edition), p. 139-144, and (iii) KP Reader VI `HORARY ASTROLOGY' (1978 Third Edition), p. 83-87, the 0-04 Leo rising chart has the 2nd house extending from 28-30 Cancer to 0-30 Libra. The 8th house commences from 28-30 Aquarius and ends with 0-30 Aries. Thus Virgo & Pisces are the pair-wise `intercepted' signs affecting 2nd and 8th houses. Gurujee KSK says under the sub- heading `Marriage', " --- 2 (2nd house) is ruled by Sun. " " --- Kethu is in the star of Mercury (lord of 2 and 11). " (In Reader VI there is a typing error of `lord of 1 and 11') Implicitly it means Sun (lord of Cancer where 2nd cusp falls) and Mercury (lord of the intercepted Leo sign which is under the 2nd house by the whole sign) are the rulers or lords of 2nd house, in Ron's words that is the `dual lordship of 2nd house'. Such kinds of charts with two intercepted signs, but not four intercepted signs, are very common in KP Readers: Reader III (Part One p. 139, Part Two p. 17, 108, 112, 136, 173, 200 & 223), Reader IV (p. 99, 105, 116, 193, 207, 225, 231 & 241), Reader V (p. 139) & Reader VI (p. 83,165, 169, 177, 250 & 296), and also in the books of KSK's son K. Hariharan: `Notable Persons & Krishnamurti Padhdhati, June 1993, (p. 35, 60, 89, 95, 103, 126 & 138); How to Judge Longevity?', 1997 Third Edition (p.24, 28, 51, 55, 67 & 72); `How to Cast and Read Your Horoscope', July 1996 (p. 125), without mentioning about the intercepted signs or neglecting to include the lord of intercepted sign as the co-lord of the house. It will be more interesting for the charts with four intercepted signs (in the `sidereal' Placidus houses), like the 27-52 (KP Ayanamsa) Scorpio arising Cheiro, 28-39 Sagittarius rising Queen Elizabeth II, 11-43 Taurus rising PM Tony Blair and 29-39 Scorpio rising Catherine Zeta-Jones. In the PM Tony Blair's chart, the 5th house is from 24-21 Cancer to 3-09 Virgo, 6th house from 3-09 Virgo to 11-43 Scorpio, 11th house from 24-21 Capricorn to 3-10 Pisces, and 12th house from 3-10 Pisces to 11-43 Taurus. Thus Leo & Aquarius and Libra & Aries are pair wise intercepted, relating 5 & 11, and 6 & 12 houses. In my understanding and according to the above example of Gurujee KSK in his three Readers, Moon & also Sun would be taken as lords of 5th house, Mercury & also Venus as lords of 6th house, Saturn as lord of 11th, and Jupiter and also Mars as lords of 12th. If the lord of intercepted signs are not included as co-lords of houses, there will be no rationale of using the Placidus house system, and it would seem like using the Equal house concept after calculating the Placidus houses to locate planets. It is also interesting to note that the floaters are changing depending on the calculation method. In the `tropical' Placidus houses of PM Blair, Libra & Aries and Scorpio & Taurus are intercepted. In the `sidereal' Koch houses, only Virgo and Pisces are intercepted. In the `tropical' Koch houses, Leo & Aquarius and Scorpio & Taurus are intercepted. Guest guest
Dear Tin Win, There is no such thing as " interception " etc., in K.P.,...If a house cusp falls in whichever sign the lord of that sign is the house lord...also sometimes two cusps may fall in the same sign...letus say, then the lord of the House is the owner of both houses...! For example if the Xth cusp falls in 1 degree Libra, and the XI th cusp falls in 29 degrees Libra, then Venus will be the lord of X and XI... If,in a particular sign there is no cusp, that sign-lord does not own any house... I hope I have made myself clear...pl. do not mix up traditional astrological " terms " ,or terms like " intercepted " etc., which,to my humble knowledge, simply do not belong to K.P.,as you will only confuse yourself and others... Guest guest
Dear Yogesh, Thank you for your comment. I may agree with your view of taking the lord of the house as taken by Gurujee KSK & his son in many places of their books. Very sorry. I am not confusing other members with the term " intercepted sign " or " floater " , which is not available in KP. It is not traditional, but modern Western astrological term used in the Placidus house system, used in the KP system. It is just a definition already mentioned, not important. The main interesting point is why Sun & Mecury are taken as the lords of 2nd house in the same example included in three KP Readers as mentioned in my observation. Guest guest
Dear Tin Win, A " house " extends from the begining of one cusp to the beginning of the next cusp...this distance may cover one and a half signs...even so,the " house " as said, extends from the cusp uptill the the begining of the next cusp... The Basic Principles of K.P. remain the same...one must check for printing " devils " or even editing mistakes...and make adequate allowances... Since I do not possess the particular reader you mention...I cannot comment... However, supposing the Ascendant is at 26 degrees Aries and the IInd cusp falls at 5 degrees Gemini...(and Taurus has no cusp falling in it)...as per K.P., any planet posited between these two cusps is considered to be in the First house, whether a planet is situated at 28 degrees Aries,or 3 degrees Gemini...both are said to be occupying the FIRST HOUSE...as per K.P.,AND,the owner of the Ascendant will be Mars, and that of the second house will be MERCURY... ! I hope I have made myself understood ? I must say,I was confused by the terms like " intercepted sign " and " floater " ...etc., which are not in vogue among K.P.followers,nor are they found in K.P. books... With best wishes, Yours sincerely, lyrastro1 GOOD LUCK ! Dear Yogesh, Thank you for your comment. Guest guest
Dear List, Certain KP astrologers follows 3.20 ORB setting. In the example quoted by Mr. Yogesh Rao , if house is extended with in 3.20 degrees only previous house need to be taken. Now everything is depending on computer softwares and they are made with such an option. According to above ORB setting Gemini is not taken as house owner. I saw it in Man Mechine systems KP astro software. -sreekumar - " Yogesh Rao Lajmi " <lyrastro1 Monday, September 20, 2004 10:21 AM Re: Re: Dual Lordship of Houses in K.P. Guest guest
Dear Sreekumar, I have certainly heard of orbs of influence of Planets, each having been allotted a different degrees... But,as yet I have not come across of any reference to " orbs-of-influence of cusps, except that, when a planet is very close to a cusp,it is considered to be " almost on the cusp " ,for all practical purposes...because of its own orb-of-influence,more than any " orb-of-influence of a cusp... Guest guest
Dear Sreekumar, I am very keen to know who has prepared the software you mention...because this is " GREEK " to me as well as many of my K.P.-follower-friends here... Also pl. inform as to where this system is available...I would be very keen to get in touch with this person and learn more about his method... Yours sincerely, lyrastro1 GOOD LUCK ! " Yours sincerely, lyrastro1 GOOD LUCK !
