Guest guest
My Dear Professor, I have been invited by the legislative Chair of the Iowa House Subcommittee for Victim's Rights in Iowa, and the president of IOVA ( Iowa Victim's Association) to address the IOVA meeting on, as luck would have it, Friday September 13th, 2008 from 12 noon to 2pm. They are interested in hearing about my experience with the Iowa justice system, and in my 8 pieces of proposed legislation making Iowa Law favor the victim instead of the perp. I know it sounds odd, but the post conviction law has come to protect the felon and get his life back in order. The victim is often left in the dust. I do not want to turn down this honor. But if I introduce myself and these ideas on the date, I fear neither I nor the ideas will be well received. This group only meets every three months. I do not want to disregard their request to have me speak -- it is quite an honor. They have actually put me on the agenda. Please advise. Thank you. Guest guest
Dear Lila: I once accepted an invitation to speak somewhere, and then discovered later that the date and time were completely inauspicious. In fact, the Moon was debilitated and Rahu and Ketu were afflicting six of the twelve houses and some of the planets. It was too late to cancel the talk, so instead I spent a lot of extra time preparing for the talk. I also took a lot of precautions in my travel and interaction with others, and of course, assumed my personal remedial measures, such as a regular kavach and a power kavach, etc. would be helpful. On the night of the talk, I received a very warm welcome and my talk, on Vedic astrology, was well received. The entire weekend was a very good success. So, I think in these cases, being prepared is the best way to go.
