Dear members of the list:

I have a basic question regarding the DST, for example in january 9th

1958 in UK I place in Time zone 00 and in DST 00, So I get Libra

Lagna, I'm right or wrong? , is there any link to find out the answer

or proper time convertion? , because I don't think I have this time

conversion properly done.

Dear Chai,

In Junior Jyotish and Jyotish Tools, DST is not automatically allowed for.

You have to enter it manually. To know whether DST is applicable for that

place and date, please check at this free website:

http://www.astro.com/cgi/aq.cgi?lang=e

Hope that helps. If you are still not clear, let me know. I can elaborate.

Kind regards.

DST (Daylight Saving Time) is generally only applicable during the

spring and summer and early fall and not winter. It is a good idea to

do a search on the topic as timezone knowledge is very much a part of

being a competent astrologer. DST is generally not observed in areas in

near the equator like India as it would make little difference as to

sunrise and sunset.

Junior Jyotish uses a convention to automate positive and negative time

zones by looking at whether the longitude is East or West. This creates

a problem with countries like England which are on GMT when DST is in

affect. For places West of GMT just enter 1:00 for DST but if it is

East of GMT then enter 1 for the time zone which will make the

calculation use -1 for the time zone.
