Hello all,

My teenage daughter has been reporting nightmares nearly every night

for the past week. I note the following:

1. She has just entered her Mercury bhukti which is natally placed in

the 8th.

2. Mercury's mooltrikona MEP is exactly afflicted by natal Ketu from

the 10th.

3. Transit Venus, which is conjunct Mercury natally, is in the 12th of

the subconscious, just coming out of the aspect of natal debilitated

Rahu from the 4th of the mind.

DOB April 15, 1993

TOB: 15:42 Zone 4:00 EDT

POB: Salem, MA, USA 70W54, 42N31

Leo 19:32

Which of these three in isolation or combination are the causes?

Thanks,

Matt

Hello Dear Matt,

You're right. Because of Mercury's subperiod rulership, one looks at Mercury's

natal promise. You already mentioned its 8th house placement and the affliction

to its MT sign. Additionally, Mercury is debilitated and it's house of placement

is afflicted by main period ruler and natally debilitated Rahu. This same Rahu

afflicts the 12th house of sleep ruled by the Moon. As MMP, the Moon, is in

closely conjunct the 6th house of health. It's house of placement is afflicted.

Natal Moon currently aspects transiting Venus (comfort) in the 12th house.

Natally, Mars likewise is in debilitation in the 12th house.

Back to Mercury, in Navamsha, Mercury is placed in the 12th house and is

afflicted by Rahu and Saturn.

So it seems like a combination of factors is involved including Mercury, Moon,

and the 12th house and their weaknesses and afflictions.

I'm sorry to hear of your daughter's nightmares. I too have a daughter born

exactly two months earlier in the same year.

Warm regards,

Shayn

Hello dear Matt,

It is the influence of natal Rahu on transit Jupiter which is causing

nightmares.

Best wishes.

Hi Shayn,

Thanks for your reply. You've raised a number of points I didn't think of..

You prompted to look at the Divisionals and the D-6 for health shows Cancer

rising with the Moon in 8H and the L4 Venus in the 6H afflicted by L6 Jupiter.

The nodes are across the 1/7H too. So, we see the " mental " and " emotional "

components to her health which are clearly given in the Rasi too.

While this manifestation as nightmares is a relatively mild problem it gives me

heed to watch for other signs of emotional strain/illness and not to hesitate

should it appear that she needs some help.

Thank you so much,

Matt

Hi Matt,

Lately, I've found myself re-reading 's writings on

divisionals (http://yournetastrologer.com/theory/t14.htm) because they add

another dimension to any situation. I really appreciate how he ties the rasi,

divisionals, sub-period lords, and transits all together. In your case, I just

didn't get around to the D-6 so I'm happy that you looked at it and found some

useful information there. There is just so much depth to SA that I am

consistently amazed.

Several year's ago, my own teen daughter was running her Sun subperiod which

rules the 11H (left arm). That same house is exactly afflicted by MMP Mercury.

When that transiting Mercury came to a five degree orb of the transiting Sun,

she broke her left arm and had to go to the hospital. Transiting Rahu also was

exactly conjunct her natal Mars. Guess what? In D-6, the Sun's dispositor is

Mars which is located in the 12H of hospitals. Also the D-6 ruler is posited in

the 11H afflicted by the 8L of accidents. This case example won me over to SA

because no other astrological system I had seen could explain the situation so

simply and yet so powerfully.

Warm regards,

Shayn

Dearest Dr. Batra,

Thank you so much for your medical insights. Certainly, at her age hormones have

to be considered a component! I will insure that her diet is good and she is

getting plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Dear Dr. Batra,

Thank you again. With my 8L in the 5H, I love mantras! I will see if we can

move her bed which presently has her head facing due West. The mantra is easy

enough to pronounce.
