Resently I came across horoscope of a girl who is suffering from Autism from birth.(Autism is characterized by impaired social interaction, problems with verbal and nonverbal communication) The girl is about 18yrs. DOB : Sep 7th 1989 ; Time: 9.34 PM ; Chennai What astrological combinations indicate Autism like problem? In this case, for her Aries Asc, the 4th Lord Moon (indicating mind & social behaviour)is debilitated in 8H. Also the 5th lord sun (intelligence) & jupiter are debilated in D-9. Lagna among other things also represents Dhi shakti - intelligence. Please note that the lagna lord is combust and is close to sandhi at the same time. 2. 2nd lord represents verbal commnunication. 2nd lord Venus is clearly in sandhi. And, added to that it is very close to the point of deep debilitation in both Rasi and Navamsha. 3. You have already talked about the debilitated Moon. Note that moon is again very close to deep point of debilitation in Navamsha also. 4. Karaka for intelligence Mercury, though exalted, is aspected by retrograde saturn who is afflicted by Rahu (by disposition). 5. Sun in addition to being debilitated in navamsha is afflicted by Ketu in Rasi. There are multiple factors leading to Autism problem. With respect to the social aspect of the disease, would we expect to consistently see issues related to 1) the 7th house and/or its lord and 2) factors across the 5/11 house axis since these represent creative expression of either " self " /5th or within " groups " /11th? Does anyone have birth data of other autistics that could be shared for further analysis? Certainly as Shri Choudhry has looked at the chart, you have had the very good fortune of his counsel and advice. Interestingly, in the first case we looked at, Rahu's subperiod was running at birth and afflicted the 7th lord Venus in his own house. In your son's case, he was similarly running the main and subperiod of a functional malefic, the MMP Saturn, from birth. Similarly also, MMP Saturn exactly aspects the MEP of the 7th house of " others " much like the other chart whose 7th house lord was badly afflicted. Saturn also afflicts the 4th house of early education and development by creating obstructions. While 6L Jupiter, from the 8th of obstructions, afflicts 4L Venus who is in the 2nd house. The nodes are closely afflicting the 2nd house of the Sun which is disposited by a combusted Mecury and both are in the 3rd of physical development/communication. Hence there is a strong malefic focus on the 3rd and 4th houses in addition to the 7th. Two charts showing a 7th house/lord affliction doesn't make for a " signature " of this disease since it involves other aforementioned factors related to brain/phyiscal development and general physical health. Perhaps more cases will built better insight along with Shri Choudhry's comments. The outlook, I am very sorry to say, is not good for a recovery from the illness. If the parents are inclined, consistent and sincere remedial propitiations for the functional malefics and strengthening measures for the functional malefics will make the most of a challenging situation. My apologies, Matt SYSTEMS APPROACH ANALYSIS: According to my calculations, the boy is Scorpio rising at 14:32. Therefore, the functional malefics are Mars, Rahu, Ketu and Venus; which is the Most Malefic Planet. The functional benefics are Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon, the Sun and Mercury. Functional health is ruled by the 6th lord which is Mars for Scorpio ascendants. Mars is badly placed in the 8th house in in very old age showing that it cannot protect the functional health.
