The Venue was a marvelous setting for the Intl Conf, with both the

cafeteria as well as the conf verandah[in the first floor], over-

looking the swimming pool and the well-spread-out lovely lawns. The

South Club enjoys very high standards of cleanliness, maintenance as

well as excellence in catering. It was a sheer delight to be in such

a lovely environment for this important conference.

Dear Prof. V.K. Choudhry and SA astrologers,

Namasthe. As desired by Respected , I am

providing a summary of 'The Proceedings of the IInd Intl Conf of SA

Astrologers',[in probably 2 or 3 Parts] - for the benefit of all

those SATVA list members , who have been unable, for various reasons

to actually be present at the conference. has himself,

with his inimitable swiftness, already given us a first glimpse of

some interesting highlights of the conference- as soon as the

conference had concluded, on the evening of Feb 25th, itself.

I shall therefore now cover the Sessions in serial order, taking care

to present the charts, side by side, so as to make this summary a

more faithful reflection of the real conference. However, before I

take you into the Sessions, it may be worthwhile to mention the

salient features of the conference, in broad outline.

I. Salient Features:

1. Homogeneity and Inhomogeneity:

Though the group of delegates was definitely homogeneous, in that

all were deeply involved with the SA and inspired by Prof.

Choudhry; yet, on closer examination, there were distinct varieties

of delegates: Veteran SA astrologers, Seniors who developed a

passion for SA, Overseas SA astrologers, Women SA astrologers,

and 'Budding and promising SA astrologers'.

2. Light on the SA by :

The opening address by , this time included many

reminiscences, anecdotes, and the story of how he came to discover

the SA. Usually, is not personal, but in this

conference, delegates had an opportunity to hear him freely recollect

and narrate events, discourse on world-trends in politics and

economics, reminisce on his experiences in spiritual astrology,

currently prevailing attitudes to astrology, human errors,

misconceptions, etc.

3. An Atmosphere of Free-Enquiry and Discussion:

Though all the delegates were practitioners of the SA, a healthy

atmosphere of intellectual- freedom prevailed, during the

conference, which gave the delegates, the opportunity to have

clarifications even on non-SA themes. Questions and dialogues in SA

continued throughout, even during the tea-breaks and lunch-breaks,

with participants in a fearless way asking Qs, which showed their

continuing personal journey from the shore of Vedic astrology to the

shore of the SA. Qs raised by Ms.Sunitha Singhal, Mr.Srivastava,

Col.B.K.Kailash, Mr.Vikaas Vansh Sharma, had this tenor, but such Qs

did not perturb the main 'SA tracks' on which 'the train of the

conference' was mainly and happily hurtling along. ,

for his part, showed his sensitive flexibility and accommodative

spirit and made allowance for mild perturbations on the main 'SA

trajectory' of the Conf.

4. All-Round Participation and Intense Discussions:

It was not an Intl Conference, which could boast of impressive big

numbers, hitting the headlines in the press-coverage, a five-star

hotel venue, big men of social or political standing, coming to

inaugurate the conference, etc. Instead, a silent revolution was

taking place. Though only about 25 delegates were attending, all of

them had come out of a conviction, out of genuine discovery and none

of them came at all only to walk away with conference-certificates!

All were there on a mission of learning and discovery of the SA to a

greater extent, so that they could have greater mastery of the SA in

their practice as SA astrologers.

Needless to say, all were thoroughly enjoying the Satsang with Prof.

Choudhry[an opportunity to learn from their illustrious Teacher and

simultaneously also receive his blessings]. Every session-even the

one before lunch[!] and the one soon-after lunch[!!] was filled with

discussions. These discussions were not just between one given SA

astrologer and . Often other SA astrologers took the

liberty of butting in, much to the delight of all present. Prof.

Choudhry himself welcomed this style of enquiry. Thus there was no

room for any kind of passivity-no one was asleep in the back-benches

[!]. In fact, all had to be awake, since all had to sit only in the

front benches, face to face with the rest!['U' formation of rows of

seats].

5. Philosophical Ingredients for Life:

Prof.V.K.Choudhry commenting on some situation made an important

remark that " One has to be detached from what one holds dearly-as

some favourite theory, for example-for often, it is such attachments

that blind us and prevent us from seeing the truth as it is. " Though,

I may not have reproduced the Prof's words verbatim, at least the

words do convey the essence of what he was saying. He also mentioned

his own deep involvement and commitment to the Magnum Opus of saint

Tulsi Das: 'Sri Ram Charit Manas'[The Saint's poetic version of

Ramayana in Hindi]. He quoted a sutra in Hindi from this Ramayana to

the effect that " demons like Ravana, Rahu and Kalanemi might succeed

in being deceitful imposters only for a while only, for in the end

they are always bound to be exposed. " The lesson was that deceit and

Rahuvian craving for short term gains, will in the long run prove to

be counterproductive. This was 's method of emphasizing

the importance of Dharma or virtue in life['pearls of wisdom', to use

his own parlance].

6. SA in the Spiritual Spheres of Life:

The Conf on the morning of the IInd day, concentrated on the

application of the SA to the study of Sri Ramana Maharshi's Moksha.

was gracious in giving me enough time to cover good

ground and the attention with which the SA astrologers listened, was

very gratifying. I tried to make my talk more intelligible, by the

repeated invocation of the SA sutras, whenever I was using them in my

analysis of the Moksha TSE of the Maharshi.

7. SA Light on Many Charts and Crises Therein:

As many as 18 different charts were analysed on the spot by Prof.

Choudhry, for the benefit of those astrologers who sought

clarification. All these charts will be presented in the ensuing

Part-2. This was the heart of the SA conference-how the SA deals with

a wide variety of life-problems and their resolutions. Many SA

astrologers intensely participated in these discussions.

8. Press Interview at the end of the Conf:

was interviewed by a Press Agency at the end of

the Conference. He also asked Dr. Jonathan Miller and myself to speak

a few words, after him, which we gladly did.

9. Conference Participation Certificates:

All delegates had the pleasure of receiving the Conference

Participation Certificate directly from the hands of ,

their beloved Teacher.

10. Conference Management:

Mr. Rajesh Chaudhary, the Vice-President of the IIPA, India Chapter,

took the huge responsibility of directly managing the Audio-Video

Presentations, and the entire Conference, in fact, from start to

finish. The silent support provided by Smt. Kiranji Choudhry and Smt.

Taneshaji Chaudhary was also squarely acknowledged, by all

delegates. To Sri Rajeshji we owe a great debt of gratitude, for the

wonderful service rendered, in a completely self-less way. He was

assisted by the veteran SA astrologer, Mr. Jagdish Sethi. Mr.Kumar

Jhuraney opened the conference, while I was asked to give the vote of

thanks. The loyalty and profound gratitude of Mr.R.K.Chaddha, the

President of the IIPA, India Chapter, towards was an

invisible pillar of towering strength, for not only this Conference,

but for the entire astrological SA mission of .

II. 's address:

Knowing his personality, we could not expect him to deliver a

prepared speech! In his relaxed manner, he spoke extempore, covering

considerable ground in this process and touching on a wide variety of

themes & issues. In his view, this conference was " a platform to meet

people and exchange views " .

Significantly, he mentioned that, after all these years of SA

work, " I am very happy at this stage in my life. " Talking about the

developments in the dissemination of the SA through books and the

Internet, he mentioned that last year two books were revised and that

yet another work is currently under revision, this year.

In dwelling upon the general applicability of astrology, he

maintained that spiritual astrology is also important. His special

point was that " every aspect of life can be seen through astrology " .

As though to illustrate this very point of the general applicability

of astrology to all aspects of life, he brought to light a new sutra,

pertaining to the connection between the Tr afflictions to the planet

Venus on the one hand and the vagaries of the weather on the other.

" When Venus is under Nodal affliction, that will also be the time,

when there will be a disturbance in the expected pattern of weather.

He gave the justification for this sutra connecting ' Tr afflictions

to Venus' and the 'weather-disturbance', by saying that comforts in

life being ruled by Venus, any disruption in these comforts-even by

natural weather disturbances-must manifest as some Tr affliction to

Venus. Illustrating this further, he said such Tr afflictions to

Venus, can give us an uncomfortable brief spell of intense 'winter'

in the middle of winter and likewise, the influence of Mars on Venus

can also give a brief spell of 'hotter days' right at the heart of

winter. In summer the impact of Mars on Venus can give intense

summer.

Taking another kindred example he said, Tr afflictions to the Su,

will correspond to various sufferings to administrators. Those will

also be the time when individuals will have their confidence shaken,

or there could also be political disturbances of some kind.

Startlingly, such afflictions, he said, will also correspond to

distressing times " when medicines will not work " .

Turning to the winning of the US Presidential elections, by George W

Bush Jr, he made a pertinent remark to drive home the predictive

accuracy of the SA. The election-result was in line with SA

prediction for the victory of Mr. Bush.

He drew our attention to the courageous achievements of GWB Jr in

relentlessly waging a war on global terrorism. This demanded

stupendous courage and the blessings of this courage was evident in

the chart of the President-with the strong Lord of the Sun-like IIIH

placed in the Asdt, with the strong Mo placed in the IIIH and above

all with the strong VIH Lord, Ju, placed in the IIIH. Prof's main

point was that this placement of the VIH Lord in the IIIH gave him

this invincibility and the capacity, " not to spare his enemies who

confronted him " . When asked, whether there wasn't good justification

for the terrorist attack[9/11], considering America's rapacious

designs on the oil-deposits in the middle east and America's cultural

invasion of other religious cultures; he held that whatever oil was

taken, was paid for by the US, and that if people all over the world

succumbed to an extravagant American life-style, it was only

because, all those pleasures and comforts pleased them as much as

they did the Americans themselves. In this way, he vindicated GWB

Jr's on going war on terrorism on the basis of SA principles.

In reply to a Q, the Prof remarked that the exact aspect of Ke on

Venus had taken him to the spiritual-life, since there was evidence

for his strong Christian devotion. When asked about the orb of 1.5

degs between natal Ju and the natal Mo-whether this was not worrisome-

he clarified that 1.5degs is clearly outside the affliction range and

the Mo is not certainly afflicted by the FM Ju, especially since the

dispositor, is strong in the IH. He however conceded, in reply to a Q

that the close influence of the FM Ju on the Mo does indeed make GWB

a willful person, prone to conflicts and fights-but as Sri Rajesh

Choudhary remarked to me during one of the Tea-breaks, this was an

asset for any head of state.

Commenting on the prevailing close Tr trend in which Tr Ju as a FM is

going to continuously afflict Tr Sa, the Prof maintained that, there

could be obstacles for another two months-with easy gains being

denied. Dwelling on the importance of the Sun-like IIIH-since this

was the essential hall-mark in GWB's chart, he mentioned in passing

that for education, students must have the IIIH strengthened, since

it is this house which gives motivation and understanding.

Drawing attention to the close impact of the strong Me, a Sun-like

Lord in GWB's chart, the Prof, in emphasizing that this Me acts like

the royal Su, also drove home, what seemed like another new SA sutra

on the Su: " With a strong Su, a person rarely has difficulties with

the profession. " His astrological guidance to people who have a

strong Su in their charts- but who had got into some problems-was

always: " Don't worry, be patient. " As this brought him to the other

extreme of the Su being afflicted, he stressed that " When the Su is

afflicted, even many efforts won't free the individual from

problems. "

Dwelling again on this very significant placement of the strong VIH

Lord in the IIIH in President GWB's chart, Prof Choudhry reminisced

that in the old Hindi film 'Gol Mal', an astrologer figures, who

speaks out a potent sutra: 'If the IIIH Lord is in the VIH, there

will be multiple marriages for the individual.' Adducing support for

this Vedic sutra, the Prof said, such a placement makes the

individual very unaccommodative of others. He went on to extend this

sutra, using the SA principles by saying that even the placement of

the VIH Lord in the VIIH, or the IVH will create the possibility for

breaking up relationship.

Turning to the sliding down in the Indian share market witnessed very

recently, the Prof drew attention to the magnitude of the losses

incurred in a single day-namely Rs.2 billion! Obviously he was

referring to a very grievous TSE[Transit Significant Event] in

India's chart and that in view of all national economies being inter-

linked-such losses were bound to have world-wide repercussions-since

even America had started investing in India in a big way.

Astrologically, he said, the " Tr affliction to the VIH Lord, is what

holds the key to a weak financial position " .

He gave a taste of 'the very beginnings' of -what has turned out to

be a life-long astrological mission. This narration has given us

glimpses into the genesis and historical development of the SA. He

had an official posting in a Govt establishment in Calcutta and had

to spend much of his time with a colleague. This colleague was

constantly talking of astrology. asked his

colleague not to talk about astrology as he was not interested in

astrology at that stage of life.

Apparently, the colleague did not give up, so the Prof. relented and

began his Vedic astrology voyage with the works of Dr. B. V. Raman

and another author Mr. L. R. Chawdhary. Because he had a very

enquiring mind, he began to look into the possible causes for the

failures of some of the predictions based on the principles of Vedic

Astrology. His explorations took a new turn when he started teaching

Vedic Astrology at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, an Institution of Hindu

learning and culture, which was dedicated to rendering yeomen service

for the resuscitation of Hindu culture and heritage. That was the

time he noticed a curious thing-that Houses in which there was a

Moola Trikona Sign-their significations suffered, whenever, their

ruling planet was afflicted.

The first book by was on Div charts, and as he

explained, only after this first book, his more comprehensive and

main text-Systems Approach to Interpreting Horoscopes came into

existence. Up to 1994 five SA books had been already published. He

mentioned that starting in 1995, with the added technological

advantages of the Internet, Fax, Telephone, and the Post, he started

receiving a large number of Qs from seekers, on account of which the

content of the SA underwent an enrichment.

Commenting on the striking individual differences between one Asdt

and another, reminded us that the relief-giving power

of the Remedial Measures vary from one Asdt to another and that the

Asdts: Gemini, Libra, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are fortunate in the

Remedial Measures working better and faster for them. He mentioned

another new way of looking at the Asdts, from the point of view of

the SA sutra pertaining to the Sun-like Hs-namely the IIIH, IIH and

the IXH. He said Leo Asdt is best and successful-from the point of

view of sheer ruling -power, since there is the potential for a natal

Leo chart to have a maximum of 'four Sun-like Lords' in the natal

chart. Also in his view, the Sun-like Hs and Sun-like Lords had the

significations of the Su. For instance, the IIIH, the IIH and the IXH

all had the organizing and ruling ability, which is essentially, the

general signification of the Su.

Next, he moved on to the chart, that was particularly difficult for

health-just to illustrate how the SA gives insights into such

difficult lives. This chart appears below. The individual is totally

crippled, physically immobile and with very poor health, but the

mental faculties are alone working.

SEE CHART WHICH FOLLOWS....

Prof's analysis: The only blessing is money, coming from the good

placement of the Income Lord, the Mo, but otherwise, life is utterly

meaningless, for this individual. On account of the weak Me, weak Su

in the VIIIH, weak longevity givers Sa and Ma, placed in the XIIH of

loss, his life will continue for just probably another 5 yrs and

with the coming of the Ma sub-period, death will be near.

Moving on to something entirely different, he laid stress on the

choice of colours used for curtains, wall-hangings and said these

must conform to the colour of the Functional Benefics in an

individual's chart, if the individual wishes to enhance the grace in

life.

In passing it was mentioned by him that he has been advising people

ever since he was only 15 yrs old; whereas his astrological work

commenced not until his 35th year. He also acknowledged that Saint

Tulsi Das's Ram Charitra Manas has been of great inspirational value

in bringing out the SA sutras. The delegates learnt with adoration

that ever since his tenth year, their illustrious Master has been

reading the Ram Charitra Manas-not as a blind believer, but as a

devoted enquirer.

Other sutras mentioned by the Prof are the following:

1. " Strength of the planets is magnified by their placements,

especially in the Sun-like houses. "

2. " If the IIH Lord is placed in the XIIH, then the individual

goes to distant lands to acquire status " Applying this to GWB's

chart, he said there is not a soul who does not know who GWB is in

all the nations of the Earth, which are distant lands, so far as the

US is concerned.

3. Replying to a Q on the qualifications for astrologers[put to him

by probably Sri Vikaas Vansh Sharma], he replied that honesty and

sincerity are the keys always and that the power to help others comes

from either a strong IXH, or strong Ju or strong IVH, etc.

4. Talking about people who have a deb Su in their charts, he said,

such people feel neglected, not-recognized and suffer from a lack of

confidence.

In PART-2 of the Proceedings, I shall narrate the other significant

event of the Conf, especially mentioned under Sec.7 of the Salient

Features. In case any errors and omissions are found in this Part-1

of the Proceedings, I hold myself entirely responsible for the same

and since these errors have not been intentional, I hope I may be

As though to illustrate this very point of the general applicability of astrology to all aspects of life, he brought to light a new sutra, pertaining to the connection between the Tr afflictions to the planet Venus on the one hand and the vagaries of the weather on the other. "When Venus is under Nodal affliction, that will also be the time, when there will be a disturbance in the expected pattern of weather. He gave the justification for this sutra connecting ' Tr afflictions to Venus' and the 'weather-disturbance', by saying that comforts in life being ruled by Venus, any disruption in these comforts-even by natural weather disturbances-must manifest as some Tr affliction to Venus. Illustrating this further, he said such Tr afflictions to Venus, can give us an uncomfortable brief spell of

intense 'winter' in the middle of winter and likewise, the influence of Mars on Venus can also give a brief spell of 'hotter days' right at the heart of winter. In summer the impact of Mars on Venus can give intense summer. Taking another kindred example he said, Tr afflictions to the Su, will correspond to various sufferings to administrators. Those will also be the time when individuals will have their confidence shaken, or there could also be political disturbances of some kind. Startlingly, such afflictions, he said, will also correspond to distressing times "when medicines will not work".Turning to the winning of the US Presidential elections, by George W Bush Jr, he made a pertinent remark to drive home the predictive accuracy of the SA. The election-result was in line with SA prediction for the victory of Mr. Bush. He drew our attention to the courageous achievements of GWB Jr in relentlessly waging a war on global

terrorism. This demanded stupendous courage and the blessings of this courage was evident in the chart of the President-with the strong Lord of the Sun-like IIIH placed in the Asdt, with the strong Mo placed in the IIIH and above all with the strong VIH Lord, Ju, placed in the IIIH. Prof's main point was that this placement of the VIH Lord in the IIIH gave him this invincibility and the capacity, "not to spare his enemies who confronted him". When asked, whether there wasn't good justification for the terrorist attack[9/11], considering America's rapacious designs on the oil-deposits in the middle east and America's cultural invasion of other religious cultures; he held that whatever oil was taken, was paid for by the US, and that if people all over the world succumbed to an extravagant American life-style, it was only because, all those pleasures and comforts pleased them as much as they did the Americans themselves. In this way, he vindicated GWB Jr's on going war on

terrorism on the basis of SA principles.In reply to a Q, the Prof remarked that the exact aspect of Ke on Venus had taken him to the spiritual-life, since there was evidence for his strong Christian devotion. When asked about the orb of 1.5 degs between natal Ju and the natal Mo-whether this was not worrisome-he clarified that 1.5degs is clearly outside the affliction range and the Mo is not certainly afflicted by the FM Ju, especially since the dispositor, is strong in the IH. He however conceded, in reply to a Q that the close influence of the FM Ju on the Mo does indeed make GWB a willful person, prone to conflicts and fights-but as Sri Rajesh Choudhary remarked to me during one of the Tea-breaks, this was an asset for any head of state. VIH Lord in the IIIH in President GWB's chart, Prof Choudhry reminisced that in the old Hindi film 'Gol Mal', an astrologer figures, who speaks out a potent sutra: 'If the IIIH Lord is in the VIH, there will be multiple marriages for the individual.' Adducing support for this Vedic sutra, the Prof said, such a placement makes the individual very unaccommodative of others. He went on to extend this sutra, using the SA principles by saying that even the placement of the VIH Lord in the VIIH, or the IVH will create the possibility for breaking up relationship.Turning to the sliding down in the Indian share market witnessed very recently, the Prof drew attention to the magnitude of the losses incurred in a single day-namely Rs.2 billion! Obviously he was referring to a very grievous TSE[Transit Significant Event] in India's chart and that in view of all national economies being inter-linked-such losses were bound to have world-wide repercussions-since even

America had started investing in India in a big way. Astrologically, he said, the "Tr affliction to the VIH Lord, is what holds the key to a weak financial position". He gave a taste of 'the very beginnings' of -what has turned out to be a life-long astrological mission. This narration has given us glimpses into the genesis and historical development of the SA. He had an official posting in a Govt establishment in Calcutta and had to spend much of his time with a colleague. This colleague was constantly talking of astrology. asked his colleague not to talk about astrology as he was not interested in astrology at that stage of life.Apparently, the colleague did not give up, so the Prof. relented and began his Vedic astrology voyage with the works of Dr. B. V. Raman and another author Mr. L. R. Chawdhary. Because he had a very enquiring mind, he began to look into the possible causes for the failures of some of the

predictions based on the principles of Vedic Astrology. His explorations took a new turn when he started teaching Vedic Astrology at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, an Institution of Hindu learning and culture, which was dedicated to rendering yeomen service for the resuscitation of Hindu culture and heritage. That was the time he noticed a curious thing-that Houses in which there was a Moola Trikona Sign-their significations suffered, whenever, their ruling planet was afflicted.The first book by was on Div charts, and as he explained, only after this first book, his more comprehensive and main text-Systems Approach to Interpreting Horoscopes came into existence. Up to 1994 five SA books had been already published. He mentioned that starting in 1995, with the added technological advantages of the Internet, Fax, Telephone, and the Post, he started receiving a large number of Qs from seekers, on account of which the content of the SA underwent an

enrichment.Commenting on the striking individual differences between one Asdt and another, reminded us that the relief-giving power of the Remedial Measures vary from one Asdt to another and that the Asdts: Gemini, Libra, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are fortunate in the Remedial Measures working better and faster for them. He mentioned another new way of looking at the Asdts, from the point of view of the SA sutra pertaining to the Sun-like Hs-namely the IIIH, IIH and the IXH. He said Leo Asdt is best and successful-from the point of view of sheer ruling -power, since there is the potential for a natal Leo chart to have a maximum of 'four Sun-like Lords' in the natal chart. Also in his view, the Sun-like Hs and Sun-like Lords had the significations of the Su. For instance, the IIIH, the IIH and the IXH all had the organizing and ruling ability, which is essentially, the general signification of the Su.Next, he moved on

to the chart, that was particularly difficult for health-just to illustrate how the SA gives insights into such difficult lives. This chart appears below. He also acknowledged that Saint Tulsi Das's Ram Charitra Manas has been of great inspirational value in bringing out the SA sutras. The delegates learnt with adoration that ever since his tenth year, their illustrious Master has been reading the Ram Charitra Manas-not as a blind believer, but as a devoted enquirer.Other sutras mentioned by the Prof are the following:1. "Strength of the planets is magnified by their placements, especially in the Sun-like houses."2. PROCEEDINGS-PART 1

The Venue was a marvelous setting for the Intl Conf, with both the cafeteria as

well as the conf verandah[in the first floor], over-looking the swimming pool

and the well-spread-out lovely lawns. The South Club enjoys very high standards

of cleanliness, maintenance as well as excellence in catering. It was a sheer

delight to be in such a lovely environment for this important conference.

Dear Prof. V.K. Choudhry and SA astrologers,

Namasthe. As desired by Respected , I am providing a

summary of 'The Proceedings of the IInd Intl Conf of SA Astrologers',[in

probably 2 or 3 Parts] - for the benefit of all those SATVA list members , who

have been unable, for various reasons to actually be present at the conference.

has himself, with his inimitable swiftness, already given us a

first glimpse of some interesting highlights of the conference- as soon as the

conference had concluded, on the evening of Feb 25th, itself.

I shall therefore now cover the Sessions in serial order, taking care to

present the charts, side by side, so as to make this summary a more faithful

reflection of the real conference. However, before I take you into the Sessions,

it may be worthwhile to mention the salient features of the conference, in broad

outline.

I. Salient Features:

1. Homogeneity and Inhomogeneity:

Though the group of delegates was definitely homogeneous, in that all were

deeply involved with the SA and inspired by ; yet, on closer

examination, there were distinct varieties of delegates: Veteran SA astrologers,

Seniors who developed a passion for SA, Overseas SA astrologers, Women SA

astrologers, and 'Budding and promising SA astrologers'.

2. Light on the SA by :

The opening address by , this time included many

reminiscences, anecdotes, and the story of how he came to discover the SA.

Usually, is not personal, but in this conference, delegates had

an opportunity to hear him freely recollect and narrate events, discourse on

world-trends in politics and economics, reminisce on his experiences in

spiritual astrology, currently prevailing attitudes to astrology, human errors,

misconceptions, etc.

3. An Atmosphere of Free-Enquiry and Discussion:

Though all the delegates were practitioners of the SA, a healthy atmosphere of

intellectual- freedom prevailed, during the conference, which gave the

delegates, the opportunity to have clarifications even on non-SA themes.

Questions and dialogues in SA continued throughout, even during the tea-breaks

and lunch-breaks, with participants in a fearless way asking Qs, which showed

their continuing personal journey from the shore of Vedic astrology to the

shore of the SA. Qs raised by Ms.Sunitha Singhal, Mr.Srivastava,

Col.B.K.Kailash, Mr.Vikaas Vansh Sharma, had this tenor, but such Qs did not

perturb the main 'SA tracks' on which 'the train of the conference' was mainly

and happily hurtling along. , for his part, showed his sensitive

flexibility and accommodative spirit and made allowance for mild perturbations

on the main 'SA trajectory' of the Conf.

4. All-Round Participation and Intense Discussions:

It was not an Intl Conference, which could boast of impressive big numbers,

hitting the headlines in the press-coverage, a five-star hotel venue, big men of

social or political standing, coming to inaugurate the conference, etc. Instead,

a silent revolution was taking place. Though only about 25 delegates were

attending, all of them had come out of a conviction, out of genuine discovery

and none of them came at all only to walk away with conference-certificates! All

were there on a mission of learning and discovery of the SA to a greater extent,

so that they could have greater mastery of the SA in their practice as SA

astrologers.

Needless to say, all were thoroughly enjoying the Satsang with Prof.

Choudhry[an opportunity to learn from their illustrious Teacher and

simultaneously also receive his blessings]. Every session-even the one before

lunch[!] and the one soon-after lunch[!!] was filled with discussions. These

discussions were not just between one given SA astrologer and .

Often other SA astrologers took the liberty of butting in, much to the delight

of all present. himself welcomed this style of enquiry. Thus

there was no room for any kind of passivity-no one was asleep in the

back-benches[!]. In fact, all had to be awake, since all had to sit only in the

front benches, face to face with the rest!['U' formation of rows of seats].

5. Philosophical Ingredients for Life:

Prof.V.K.Choudhry commenting on some situation made an important remark that

" One has to be detached from what one holds dearly-as some favourite theory,

for example-for often, it is such attachments that blind us and prevent us from

seeing the truth as it is. " Though, I may not have reproduced the Prof's words

verbatim, at least the words do convey the essence of what he was saying. He

also mentioned his own deep involvement and commitment to the Magnum Opus of

saint Tulsi Das: 'Sri Ram Charit Manas'[The Saint's poetic version of Ramayana

in Hindi]. He quoted a sutra in Hindi from this Ramayana to the effect that

" demons like Ravana, Rahu and Kalanemi might succeed in being deceitful

imposters only for a while only, for in the end they are always bound to be

exposed. " The lesson was that deceit and Rahuvian craving for short term gains,

will in the long run prove to be counterproductive. This was 's

method of emphasizing the importance of Dharma or virtue in life['pearls of

wisdom', to use his own parlance].

6. SA in the Spiritual Spheres of Life:

The Conf on the morning of the IInd day, concentrated on the application of the

SA to the study of Sri Ramana Maharshi's Moksha. was gracious in

giving me enough time to cover good ground and the attention with which the SA

astrologers listened, was very gratifying. I tried to make my talk more

intelligible, by the repeated invocation of the SA sutras, whenever I was using

them in my analysis of the Moksha TSE of the Maharshi.

7. SA Light on Many Charts and Crises Therein:

As many as 18 different charts were analysed on the spot by , for

the benefit of those astrologers who sought clarification. All these charts will

be presented in the ensuing Part-2. This was the heart of the SA conference-how

the SA deals with a wide variety of life-problems and their resolutions. Many SA

astrologers intensely participated in these discussions.

8. Press Interview at the end of the Conf:

was interviewed by a Press Agency at the end of the

Conference. He also asked Dr. Jonathan Miller and myself to speak a few words,

after him, which we gladly did.

9. Conference Participation Certificates:

All delegates had the pleasure of receiving the Conference Participation

Certificate directly from the hands of , their beloved Teacher.

10. Conference Management:

Mr. Rajesh Chaudhary, the Vice-President of the IIPA, India Chapter, took the

huge responsibility of directly managing the Audio-Video Presentations, and the

entire Conference, in fact, from start to finish. The silent support provided by

Smt. Kiranji Choudhry and Smt. Taneshaji Chaudhary was also squarely

acknowledged, by all delegates. To Sri Rajeshji we owe a great debt of

gratitude, for the wonderful service rendered, in a completely self-less way.

He was assisted by the veteran SA astrologer, Mr. Jagdish Sethi. Mr.Kumar

Jhuraney opened the conference, while I was asked to give the vote of thanks.

The loyalty and profound gratitude of Mr.R.K.Chaddha, the President of the IIPA,

India Chapter, towards was an invisible pillar of towering

strength, for not only this Conference, but for the entire astrological SA

mission of .

II. 's address:

Knowing his personality, we could not expect him to deliver a prepared speech!

In his relaxed manner, he spoke extempore, covering considerable ground in this

process and touching on a wide variety of themes & issues. In his view, this

conference was " a platform to meet people and exchange views " .

Significantly, he mentioned that, after all these years of SA work, " I am very

happy at this stage in my life. " Talking about the developments in the

dissemination of the SA through books and the Internet, he mentioned that last

year two books were revised and that yet another work is currently under

revision, this year.

In dwelling upon the general applicability of astrology, he maintained that

spiritual astrology is also important. His special point was that " every aspect

of life can be seen through astrology " . As though to illustrate this very point

not a soul who does not know who GWB is in all the nations of the Earth, which

are distant lands, so far as the US is concerned.

3. Replying to a Q on the qualifications for astrologers[put to him by

probably Sri Vikaas Vansh Sharma], he replied that honesty and sincerity are the

keys always and that the power to help others comes from either a strong IXH, or

strong Ju or strong IVH, etc.

4. Talking about people who have a deb Su in their charts, he said, such

people feel neglected, not-recognized and suffer from a lack of confidence.

In PART-2 of the Proceedings, I shall narrate the other significant event of the

Conf, especially mentioned under Sec.7 of the Salient Features. In case any

The Venue was a marvelous setting for the Intl Conf, with both the cafeteria

was a sheer delight to be in such a lovely environment for this important

conference.

Dear Prof. V.K. Choudhry and SA astrologers,

Namasthe. As desired by Respected , I am providing a

summary of 'The Proceedings of the IInd Intl Conf of SA Astrologers',[in

probably 2 or 3 Parts] - for the benefit of all those SATVA list members ,

who have been unable, for various reasons to actually be present at the

conference. has himself, with his inimitable swiftness,

already given us a first glimpse of some interesting highlights of the

conference- as soon as the conference had concluded, on the evening of Feb

25th, itself.

I shall therefore now cover the Sessions in serial order, taking care to

present the charts, side by side, so as to make this summary a more

faithful reflection of the real conference. However, before I take you into

the Sessions, it may be worthwhile to mention the salient features of the

conference, in broad outline.

I. Salient Features:

1. Homogeneity and Inhomogeneity:

Though the group of delegates was definitely homogeneous, in that all

were deeply involved with the SA and inspired by ; yet, on

closer examination, there were distinct varieties of delegates: Veteran SA

astrologers, Seniors who developed a passion for SA, Overseas SA

astrologers, Women SA astrologers, and 'Budding and promising SA

astrologers'.

2. Light on the SA by :

The opening address by , this time included many

reminiscences, anecdotes, and the story of how he came to discover the SA.

Usually, is not personal, but in this conference, delegates

had an opportunity to hear him freely recollect and narrate events,

discourse on world-trends in politics and economics, reminisce on his

experiences in spiritual astrology, currently prevailing attitudes to

astrology, human errors, misconceptions, etc.

3. An Atmosphere of Free-Enquiry and Discussion:

Though all the delegates were practitioners of the SA, a healthy

atmosphere of intellectual- freedom prevailed, during the conference,

which gave the delegates, the opportunity to have clarifications even on

non-SA themes. Questions and dialogues in SA continued throughout, even

during the tea-breaks and lunch-breaks, with participants in a fearless way

asking Qs, which showed their continuing personal journey from the shore of

Vedic astrology to the shore of the SA. Qs raised by Ms.Sunitha Singhal,

Mr.Srivastava, Col.B.K.Kailash, Mr.Vikaas Vansh Sharma, had this tenor, but

such Qs did not perturb the main 'SA tracks' on which 'the train of the

conference' was mainly and happily hurtling along. , for his

part, showed his sensitive flexibility and accommodative spirit and made

allowance for mild perturbations on the main 'SA trajectory' of the Conf.

4. All-Round Participation and Intense Discussions:

It was not an Intl Conference, which could boast of impressive big numbers,

hitting the headlines in the press-coverage, a five-star hotel venue, big

men of social or political standing, coming to inaugurate the conference,

etc. Instead, a silent revolution was taking place. Though only about 25

delegates were attending, all of them had come out of a conviction, out of

genuine discovery and none of them came at all only to walk away with

conference-certificates! All were there on a mission of learning and

discovery of the SA to a greater extent, so that they could have greater

mastery of the SA in their practice as SA astrologers.

Needless to say, all were thoroughly enjoying the Satsang with Prof.

Choudhry[an opportunity to learn from their illustrious Teacher and

simultaneously also receive his blessings]. Every session-even the one

before lunch[!] and the one soon-after lunch[!!] was filled with

discussions. These discussions were not just between one given SA astrologer

and . Often other SA astrologers took the liberty of butting

in, much to the delight of all present. himself welcomed

this style of enquiry. Thus there was no room for any kind of passivity-no

one was asleep in the back-benches[!]. In fact, all had to be awake, since

all had to sit only in the front benches, face to face with the rest!['U'

formation of rows of seats].

5. Philosophical Ingredients for Life:

Prof.V.K.Choudhry commenting on some situation made an important remark that

" One has to be detached from what one holds dearly-as some favourite

theory, for example-for often, it is such attachments that blind us and

prevent us from seeing the truth as it is. " Though, I may not have

reproduced the Prof's words verbatim, at least the words do convey the

essence of what he was saying. He also mentioned his own deep involvement

and commitment to the Magnum Opus of saint Tulsi Das: 'Sri Ram Charit

Manas'[The Saint's poetic version of Ramayana in Hindi]. He quoted a sutra

in Hindi from this Ramayana to the effect that " demons like Ravana, Rahu and

Kalanemi might succeed in being deceitful imposters only for a while only,

for in the end they are always bound to be exposed. " The lesson was that

deceit and Rahuvian craving for short term gains, will in the long run prove

to be counterproductive. This was 's method of emphasizing the

importance of Dharma or virtue in life['pearls of wisdom', to use his own

parlance].

6. SA in the Spiritual Spheres of Life:

The Conf on the morning of the IInd day, concentrated on the application of

the SA to the study of Sri Ramana Maharshi's Moksha. was

gracious in giving me enough time to cover good ground and the attention

with which the SA astrologers listened, was very gratifying. I tried to make

my talk more intelligible, by the repeated invocation of the SA sutras,

whenever I was using them in my analysis of the Moksha TSE of the Maharshi.

7. SA Light on Many Charts and Crises Therein:

As many as 18 different charts were analysed on the spot by ,

for the benefit of those astrologers who sought clarification. All these

charts will be presented in the ensuing Part-2. This was the heart of the

SA conference-how the SA deals with a wide variety of life-problems and

their resolutions. Many SA astrologers intensely participated in these

discussions.

8. Press Interview at the end of the Conf:

was interviewed by a Press Agency at the end of the

Conference. He also asked Dr. Jonathan Miller and myself to speak a few

words, after him, which we gladly did.

9. Conference Participation Certificates:

All delegates had the pleasure of receiving the Conference Participation

Certificate directly from the hands of , their beloved

Teacher.

10. Conference Management:

Mr. Rajesh Chaudhary, the Vice-President of the IIPA, India Chapter, took

the huge responsibility of directly managing the Audio-Video Presentations,

and the entire Conference, in fact, from start to finish. The silent support

provided by Smt. Kiranji Choudhry and Smt. Taneshaji Chaudhary was also

squarely acknowledged, by all delegates. To Sri Rajeshji we owe a great debt

of gratitude, for the wonderful service rendered, in a completely self-less

way. He was assisted by the veteran SA astrologer, Mr. Jagdish Sethi.

Mr.Kumar Jhuraney opened the conference, while I was asked to give the vote

of thanks. The loyalty and profound gratitude of Mr.R.K.Chaddha, the

President of the IIPA, India Chapter, towards was an

invisible pillar of towering strength, for not only this Conference, but for

the entire astrological SA mission of .

II. 's address:

Knowing his personality, we could not expect him to deliver a prepared

speech! In his relaxed manner, he spoke extempore, covering considerable

ground in this process and touching on a wide variety of themes & issues. In

his view, this conference was " a platform to meet people and exchange

views " .

Significantly, he mentioned that, after all these years of SA work, " I am

very happy at this stage in my life. " Talking about the developments in the

dissemination of the SA through books and the Internet, he mentioned that

last year two books were revised and that yet another work is currently

under revision, this year.

In dwelling upon the general applicability of astrology, he maintained that

spiritual astrology is also important. His special point was that " every

aspect of life can be seen through astrology " . As though to illustrate this

very point of the general applicability of astrology to all aspects of life,

he brought to light a new sutra, pertaining to the connection between the Tr

afflictions to the planet Venus on the one hand and the vagaries of the

weather on the other.

" When Venus is under Nodal affliction, that will also be the time, when

there will be a disturbance in the expected pattern of weather. He gave the

justification for this sutra connecting ' Tr afflictions to Venus' and the

'weather-disturbance', by saying that comforts in life being ruled by Venus,

any disruption in these comforts-even by natural weather disturbances-must

manifest as some Tr affliction to Venus. Illustrating this further, he said

such Tr afflictions to Venus, can give us an uncomfortable brief spell of

intense 'winter' in the middle of winter and likewise, the influence of

Mars on Venus can also give a brief spell of 'hotter days' right at the

heart of winter. In summer the impact of Mars on Venus can give intense

summer.

Taking another kindred example he said, Tr afflictions to the Su, will

correspond to various sufferings to administrators. Those will also be the

time when individuals will have their confidence shaken, or there could also

be political disturbances of some kind. Startlingly, such afflictions, he

said, will also correspond to distressing times " when medicines will not

work " .

Turning to the winning of the US Presidential elections, by George W Bush

Jr, he made a pertinent remark to drive home the predictive accuracy of the

SA. The election-result was in line with SA prediction for the victory of

Mr. Bush.

He drew our attention to the courageous achievements of GWB Jr in

relentlessly waging a war on global terrorism. This demanded stupendous

courage and the blessings of this courage was evident in the chart of the

President-with the strong Lord of the Sun-like IIIH placed in the Asdt, with

the strong Mo placed in the IIIH and above all with the strong VIH Lord,

Ju, placed in the IIIH. Prof's main point was that this placement of the VIH

Lord in the IIIH gave him this invincibility and the capacity, " not to spare

his enemies who confronted him " . When asked, whether there wasn't good

justification for the terrorist attack[9/11], considering America's

rapacious designs on the oil-deposits in the middle east and America's

cultural invasion of other religious cultures; he held that whatever oil was

taken, was paid for by the US, and that if people all over the world

succumbed to an extravagant American life-style, it was only because, all

those pleasures and comforts pleased them as much as they did the Americans

themselves. In this way, he vindicated GWB Jr's on going war on terrorism

on the basis of SA principles.

In reply to a Q, the Prof remarked that the exact aspect of Ke on Venus

had taken him to the spiritual-life, since there was evidence for his strong

Christian devotion. When asked about the orb of 1.5 degs between natal Ju

and the natal Mo-whether this was not worrisome-he clarified that 1.5degs is

clearly outside the affliction range and the Mo is not certainly afflicted

by the FM Ju, especially since the dispositor, is strong in the IH. He

however conceded, in reply to a Q that the close influence of the FM Ju on

the Mo does indeed make GWB a willful person, prone to conflicts and

fights-but as Sri Rajesh Choudhary remarked to me during one of the

Tea-breaks, this was an asset for any head of state.

Commenting on the prevailing close Tr trend in which Tr Ju as a FM is going

to continuously afflict Tr Sa, the Prof maintained that, there could be

obstacles for another two months-with easy gains being denied. Dwelling on

the importance of the Sun-like IIIH-since this was the essential hall-mark

in GWB's chart, he mentioned in passing that for education, students must

have the IIIH strengthened, since it is this house which gives motivation

and understanding.

Drawing attention to the close impact of the strong Me, a Sun-like Lord in

GWB's chart, the Prof, in emphasizing that this Me acts like the royal Su,

also drove home, what seemed like another new SA sutra on the Su: " With a

strong Su, a person rarely has difficulties with the profession. " His

astrological guidance to people who have a strong Su in their charts- but

who had got into some problems-was always: " Don't worry, be patient. " As

this brought him to the other extreme of the Su being afflicted, he stressed

that " When the Su is afflicted, even many efforts won't free the individual

from problems. "

Dwelling again on this very significant placement of the strong VIH Lord in

the IIIH in President GWB's chart, Prof Choudhry reminisced that in the old

Hindi film 'Gol Mal', an astrologer figures, who speaks out a potent sutra:

'If the IIIH Lord is in the VIH, there will be multiple marriages for the

individual.' Adducing support for this Vedic sutra, the Prof said, such a

placement makes the individual very unaccommodative of others. He went on to

extend this sutra, using the SA principles by saying that even the placement

of the VIH Lord in the VIIH, or the IVH will create the possibility for

breaking up relationship.

Turning to the sliding down in the Indian share market witnessed very

recently, the Prof drew attention to the magnitude of the losses incurred in

a single day-namely Rs.2 billion! Obviously he was referring to a very

grievous TSE[Transit Significant Event] in India's chart and that in view of

all national economies being inter-linked-such losses were bound to have

world-wide repercussions-since even America had started investing in India

in a big way. Astrologically, he said, the " Tr affliction to the VIH Lord,

is what holds the key to a weak financial position " .

He gave a taste of 'the very beginnings' of -what has turned out to be a

life-long astrological mission. This narration has given us glimpses into

the genesis and historical development of the SA. He had an official posting

in a Govt establishment in Calcutta and had to spend much of his time with a

colleague. This colleague was constantly talking of astrology. Prof. V. K.

Choudhry asked his colleague not to talk about astrology as he was not

interested in astrology at that stage of life.

Apparently, the colleague did not give up, so the Prof. relented and began

his Vedic astrology voyage with the works of Dr. B. V. Raman and another

author Mr. L. R. Chawdhary. Because he had a very enquiring mind, he began

to look into the possible causes for the failures of some of the predictions

based on the principles of Vedic Astrology. His explorations took a new

turn when he started teaching Vedic Astrology at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, an

Institution of Hindu learning and culture, which was dedicated to rendering

yeomen service for the resuscitation of Hindu culture and heritage. That was

the time he noticed a curious thing-that Houses in which there was a Moola

Trikona Sign-their significations suffered, whenever, their ruling planet

was afflicted.

The first book by was on Div charts, and as he explained,

only after this first book, his more comprehensive and main text-Systems

Approach to Interpreting Horoscopes came into existence. Up to 1994 five SA

books had been already published. He mentioned that starting in 1995, with

the added technological advantages of the Internet, Fax, Telephone, and the

Post, he started receiving a large number of Qs from seekers, on account of

which the content of the SA underwent an enrichment.

Commenting on the striking individual differences between one Asdt and

another, reminded us that the relief-giving power of the

Remedial Measures vary from one Asdt to another and that the Asdts: Gemini,

Libra, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are fortunate in the Remedial Measures

working better and faster for them. He mentioned another new way of looking

at the Asdts, from the point of view of the SA sutra pertaining to the

Sun-like Hs-namely the IIIH, IIH and the IXH. He said Leo Asdt is best and

successful-from the point of view of sheer ruling -power, since there is the

potential for a natal Leo chart to have a maximum of 'four Sun-like

Lords' in the natal chart. Also in his view, the Sun-like Hs and Sun-like

Lords had the significations of the Su. For instance, the IIIH, the IIH and

the IXH all had the organizing and ruling ability, which is essentially,

the general signification of the Su.

Next, he moved on to the chart, that was particularly difficult for

health-just to illustrate how the SA gives insights into such difficult

lives. This chart appears below. The individual is totally crippled,

physically immobile and with very poor health, but the mental faculties are

alone working.

Prof's analysis: The only blessing is money, coming from the good placement

of the Income Lord, the Mo, but otherwise, life is utterly meaningless, for

this individual. On account of the weak Me, weak Su in the VIIIH, weak

longevity givers Sa and Ma, placed in the XIIH of loss, his life will

continue for just probably another 5 yrs and with the coming of the Ma

sub-period, death will be near.

Moving on to something entirely different, he laid stress on the choice of

colours used for curtains, wall-hangings and said these must conform to the

colour of the Functional Benefics in an individual's chart, if the

individual wishes to enhance the grace in life.

In passing it was mentioned by him that he has been advising people ever

since he was only 15 yrs old; whereas his astrological work commenced not

until his 35th year. He also acknowledged that Saint Tulsi Das's Ram

Charitra Manas has been of great inspirational value in bringing out the SA

sutras. The delegates learnt with adoration that ever since his tenth year,

their illustrious Master has been reading the Ram Charitra Manas-not as a

blind believer, but as a devoted enquirer.

Other sutras mentioned by the Prof are the following:

1. " Strength of the planets is magnified by their placements, especially

in the Sun-like houses. "

2. " If the IIH Lord is placed in the XIIH, then the individual goes to

distant lands to acquire status " Applying this to GWB's chart, he said there
