However, I will clarify th above concepts prpounded by Jaimini Maharshi While Lagna stands for the true self, Arudha Lagna (AL) stands for the Maya associated. It shows how people perceive them which is very important for his status and career. People may perceive someone to be honest even if he is a crook .Perceptions and reality a re both important for an astrologer. For predicting some matters , we need knowledge of the perceptions. eg (success of a politician in elections, success in promotion at office etc) HOW TO CALCULATE ARUDHA LAGNA : FIND OUT WHERE YOUR LAGNA LORD IS .COUNT THE NO OF HOUSES FROM THE LAGNA . FROM THE HOUSE WHERE THE LAGNA LORD IS , FURTHER PROCEED WITH THE SAME NO AND THE RESULTANT LAGNA IS ARUDHA LAGNA. FOR EG Leo Lagna .Lord Sun is in 5th house in Sagitarius. From Lagna , Lagna lord is 5 houses away . So to get the Arudha Lagna count 5 from Sagitarius and you get Aries . So Aries is your ARUDHA LAGNA . Another example : For Leo Lagna , lord Sun is in 12th house . So lord is 12 houses away in Cancer.So from Cancer Count 12 .You get Gemini . Gemini is your Arudha Lagna . HOWEVE THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS WHERE THE ABOVE METHOD OF COMPUTATION WILL NOT WORK . HOW TO CALCULATE UPAPADA LAGNA : Just like you counted the lagna lord , you count the 12th lord . For eg for Leo Lagna , the 12th lord Moon is in Sagitarius .ie 6 houses away. So count 6 from Sagitarius . You get Taurus. So Taurus is your Upapada Lagna. One should know the basics of Jaimini concepts like Arudha/Atmakaraka/Amatyakaraka even if they are irrelevant . Only if one knows the basics , one can criticise other schools of thought.Tomorrow a brilliant SA astrologer has to interact with astrological fraternity wherein if he feigns ignorance of Jaimini basics , he will be shunned. If he knows , he can say " Look I know it but I do not believe in it . " People may then listen to him. There are many who have come directly come to SA . I was targetting them only. I had no plans of stretching on that matter. I just want to drive home the basics with a larger interest . As I am just 8 months old with SA I want to clear some basic difference to difine marriage relation, divorce and longitivity of marital life with SA and other concept. I must say Sri sasasivan sir is right in his approach that we have to present SA to vedic astrologers we have to know the basics of their concept. As I have joined this forum with a question on horoscope of divorce. Vedic astrologers claiming just opposite to our findings. So I just want to clear my doubts about that. As I am just 8 months old with SA I want to clear some basic difference to difine marriage relation, divorce and longitivity of marital life with SA and other concept. I must say Sri sasasivan sir is right in his approach that we have to present SA to vedic astrologers we have to know the basics of their concept. As I have joined this forum with a question on horoscope of divorce. Vedic astrologers claiming just opposite to our findings. So I just want to clear my doubts about that.
