Jyotish Tools

Hi Brian,

Thanks for clarifying that the Jyotish to Go program will not work on the

Symbian OS of the Nokia E61.

I am looking around to buy a Smart Phone. I also saw at your Jyotish Tools

website that it says the Jyotish to Go will not work on Smartphones that use the

Windows Mobile OS.

I also read the message about Jyotish to Go being compatible with the Palm Treo

650. Treo 680 has just been released and I am thinking of buying this. I am

presently on vacation in the US and it costs significantly less here than it

does in Australia where I live and work. Can I request you to kindly confirm

that Jyotish to Go will work with the Treo 680?

The only drawback with the Treo 680 is that it does not have Wi Fi. But if I

buy some other Smart Phone that does have Wi Fi it may not support Jyotish to

Go, which is something I MUST have.

Can I request you to kindly confirm which Smart Phones DO support Jyotish to Go

please?

I also request any other list members who may be having more information on this

subject to kindly share it with me. I'll be much obliged. I'll be in the US

for another 10 days. If I need to buy a Smart Phone here it has to be within

the next few days.

Thanks for you help. With kind regards.

If you click on the " specs " tab on the Palm site you'll see that the

Treo 680 uses Palm OS 5.x so it should work okay. Of course Palm

doesn't send me samples so I can never be 100% sure but basically the OS

does emulation for legacy 68K apps. There are some Treo's that use the

Pocket PC or Windows Mobile OS. Jyotish Tools for the Pocket PC will

run on those. The problem with the latter is there were some phones

that ran a version that worked both for the phone and for apps and that

required developers to redevelop the applications which of course they

didn't so most of the phones these days with Windows Mobile don't use

that OS and can run the legacy apps.

Hope that helps,

Brian
