Patrice, why are we coming out with different things? Well, anyhow, here's why she's exceptionally smart: Moon is Vergottama, which means it's in the same sign in the natal and navamsa charts. Since it's a good sign for the Moon anyway, Cancer, all the better. Then . in the Navamsa chart Jupiter forms a strong trine to the Moon. I've come to this discussion late, but I've studied academically gifted charts (high performance) and published articles on these charts, and this chart fits the pattern: 1) Mercury is strongly angular in its own mansion. 2) Mercury's dispositor is strong in an angle and conjunct Jupiter, the dispositor of Sun/Neptune. As a matter of fact they are in the same degree, and their dispositor is Saturn who is with Mercury. So there's a very strong tie-in of Mercury-Saturn-Mars-Jupiter-Sun through dispositorship. If you take Uranus as the dispositor of Jupiter/Mars, the pattern is the same since Uranus is with Mercury and Saturn. There's a whole lotta' combined energy there. 3) The Moon is vargottama as Bettina pointed out, but even more important in the navamsa the Moon is with Neptune. I found either Neptune or Jupiter conjoined or strongly aspecting the Moon in high performance charts. But actually Mercury, which rules study and academics, is stronger than the Moon since it's angular, and its dispositor is so strongly placed. The Moon is comparitively weak in position in comparison. This will make the logical/academic mind stronger than the emotions. In the natal chart the Moon is rather out of the picture in relation to other planets. 4) There is a powerful stellium in the navamsa chart: Sun-Mars-Jupiter in Aries, Mars and Jupiter being the conjoined dispositors of Mercury-Saturn-Uranus-Sun-Neptune in the natal chart, and the Sun being the ascendant lord. 5) The ascendant is vargottama. Venus is the 10th lord in its own sign, and receives the angular trine from Jupiter-Mars. Venus is also with the powerful navamsa stellium of Sun-Mars-Jupter in Aries. This person's life should be a success if the relevant dasas are running. The strongest yoga for success is 10th lord Venus in trine to 5th lord Jupiter. 9th lord Mars also trines Venus, but that trine is weaker than the trine from Jupiter, only half strength. The entire chart (except the Moon) is very well tied together. There is a disconnect between the Moon and Sun, so this is likely to make a lack of connection with the emotional nature and perhaps the memory, the inner spirit and will being stronger than the more surface emotions. These two might battle it out sometimes, but the Sun is likely to win since it receives so much support from the remainder of the chart. This is a really excellent horoscope. A possible stumbling block is Pluto with Venus (relationships), but Pluto isn't always active in a chart, so I don't know how that would turn out. Only Uranus (among the Scorpio planets) is with a bright Ophiuchus star--Rasalhague, alpha OPH. But Uranus disposits the powerful angular Jupiter/Mars conjuction. Mercury/Saturn are with stars in Norma, the carpenter's square. If symbolism holds, this would give a precise mind with perhaps a mathematical slant.
