Dear Professor,

A quick question on the muhurtha for the recently concluded

conference. Can you please let us know the astrological reason for

selecting these two days for the event, even when rahu was aspecting

saturn.

Thanks

Dear Mr. Gupta,

I'm guessing that the conference began each morning under a Gemini

ascendant. At least then there are no bad placements, and the number

of FM's are kept at a minimum.

Best Wishes,

Arun Rao

Hello dear Mr. Gupta,

With Muhurata selection, Conference may not be possible for years together.

Convenience of intending persons were taken into consideration after the

idea was mooted.

Intl Conf on the Systems Approach to Vedic/Hindu Astrology [Apr 8th ,9th

2006, Gurgaon]:

S1: On advaita bhakti: 7th level of bhakti from Sri Ramcharitra Manas: “ The

Lord says, ‘ Treat everybody like me’.”

S2: “ In Treta & Dwapara Yugas; goal of life was Moksha and Artha & Kama

were considered impediments to Moksha.”

S3: “ A true spiritual being need not have any association or yoga between

the Asdt lord & lords of spiritual Hs, such as the lords of the IVH, the VH,

or the IXH.”

S4: SA spiritual potentials: “ Spiritual power in a chart comes from a

strong Su, a strong Ju, strong IXH [ or IVH, if the IXH has no MT], and no

malefic influences on the XH.”

S5: “ VIIIH rules obstructions. The obstructions in life make people search

for a deeper meaning in life and that is how, through obstructions, people

come to God, religion, mysticism & occultism.”

S6: “ When the spiritual planets [ Ju, Su ] & Hs [ the VH, IXH or the IVH ]

are weak; then there is an incapacity to take on the blows of life.

Conversely when one or more of these spiritual variables are strong; then

there is a capacity to take on the blows of life.”

S7: Role of afflictions in paving the way for entry into the spiritual life:

[Ratified by on 5th Apr, ’06]

“If strong spiritual planets in the D & M spheres are not present in the

chart; then the strong afflictions and weaknesses of the planets in the A &

K spheres; may only serve to “drown and trap” the individual in a life of

struggle, confining the individual to the A & K spheres.

“ If on the other hand, when strong afflictions and weaknesses of the A & K

lords co-exist side by side with strong D & M Lords; then we have the best

illustration of the highest spiritual life, characterized by all the higher

significations of the strong D and M lords. This may be called the Nivritti

Marga[N].

“ However, if strong spiritual potentials, in the form of strong D & M Lords

co-exist with strong A & K Lords as well; then we have a mixture of

Nivritti[N] and Pravritti[P] in that spiritual life. That is, in this case,

while the individual is spiritual, he also has involvement in the world and

may also in such cases, enjoy success in the worldly sphere as well.”

S8: On placement in the IXH of grace: “Any point in the IXH is a source of

grace through mere placement; not necessarily placement close to the MEP,

but even placements at the extremities of the H. However, the grace from the

placement is proportional to the proximity to the MEP of the IXH.”

S9: “ In the spiritual spheres Sa signifies philosophical, humanitarian &

religious thinking.”

S10: “ If the IXH does not have a MT sign, then it will be Ju which will

signify the Guru, & not the lord of the IVH.”

S11: On Saturnian virtues: “ A well placed & strong Sa gives the Saturnian

spiritual virtues of responsibility, love of meticulous detail, a capacity

for concentration, love of service, a capacity for detachment, discipline,

self-introspection & austerity and thus proves to be an asset for the

spiritual life.”

S12: On benefic influence on Ke: “Whenever Ke is under benefic influence, it

gives spiritual advancement, but at the same time, it does not obstruct the

normal material pursuits.”

S13: The Duhstanas in the spiritual life: “ The IVH is the H of atmavichara,

whereas the VIH gives the energy to delve deeply into atmavichara and in

unconventional & new fields; while the VIIIH gives profound intelligence for

probing & researching into occult & mystic disciplines.”

S14: “Ke’s close impact on the Trinal Hs is a spiritual blessing. Ke takes

one to spiritual & occult studies.”

S15: On Bhakti: “ If the VH has no MT sign, the bhakti aspect of the VH is

transferred to the IXH.”

S16: Results of weak planets vis-à-vis results of close afflictions: “Weak

planets delay fructifications during the expected sub-periods, while

afflictions create all sorts of difficulties & misfortunes.”

S17: “ If a Moksha Lord for the Virgo Asdt, exactly influences either the

Asdt or the Asdt Lord; and other strong spiritual influences are present in

the chart, like a strong IVH or a strong Navamsa chart, then the individual

is profoundly spiritualized.”

S18: “ When Ke impacts closely on the MEPs of professional Hs; Ke becomes a

supplementary determinant of profession & would signify the professions of a

doctor or that of a religious teacher or scholar.”

S19: “ The IIIH lord or the XIH lord in the IXH, close to the MEP would

create the phenomenon of spiritual entrepreneurship.”

S20: “ Ke works more like the VIH lord, while Ra works more like the VIIIH

lord & the XIIH lord.”[sA] In the VA however, Ke is the significator of the

XIIH of Moksha.

S22: “ Ju signifies spiritual & astrological knowledge & when Ju is

associated with the XH, IIH or the IIIH or the VH; then it teaches this

knowledge.”

S23: de facto Asdt lord: “ Whenever the Asdt lord is weak & another planet

closely influences the Asdt; then the individual’s personality is also

shaped by the closely influencing planet.”

S24: Long-lived impact: “ When an impacting planet is close to the MEP of a

given H, then it has a long-lived impact upon that H and when not close, the

impact is short-lived; i.e.; only during the sub-periods, or even during Tr

influences.”

S25: Rahu’s worldly nature: “ Ra acts as Kamadeva or the lord of endless

desires & cravings.”

S26: Ra’s influence on Ve, seen comprehensively: “Ra’s affliction to weak

Ve, usually intensifies sensual cravings; especially when Ra & /or Ve are

badly placed. However, if there are strong spiritual influences in a chart;

such as given by a strong Ju, strong Su, strong IVH; then Ra’s influence

will not be a serious unspiritual inclination.”

S27: On the formation of the personality: “Whenever the Asdt lord enters a

given H; then the significations of that H, get inseparably associated with

that Asdt lord and this becomes the personality of the individual.”

S28: Occurrence of scandals & defamation: “ Strong FBs in the IIH, confers

status to the native; when weak, deb or afflicted planets are placed in the

IIH, this involves the person in scandals & defamation.”

S29: Source of life’s difficulties: “Sometimes the native suffers because of

weak combinations in the Rasi chart & sometimes they suffer due to planetary

weakness & afflictions in the Div chart.”

S30: Spiritual influence of the Su & Ju: “Strong placement of the Su & Ju

does not allow the sensuality to erupt easily.”

S31: Rasi chart can be misleading: “Rasi chart can be misleading and can

project illusions, whereas the relevant Div chart like the D-9 or the D-10

can falsify the illusory picture of the Rasi chart.”

S32: Weak Tr FB on weak natal FB: “In the case of a weak Tr FB, aspecting or

conj a weak natal FB, the effective orb of influence is 1° on either side.”

S33: Strong Tr FB on strong natal FB: “In the case of a strong Tr FB,

aspecting or conj a strong natal FB; the effective orb of influence is 5°

on either side.”

S34: On ‘the orb of max influence’: “If a Tr FM, irrespective of its

strength, afflicts a strong natal FB; the orb of max influence is 1° on

either side.”

S35: On ‘the orb of max influence’[OMI] for the MMP: “If the Tr MMP afflicts

Tr weak FBs; the OMI is 5° on either side, but is reduced to 2° on either

side, when the afflicted Tr FB is strong.”

S36: “The Tr strength of the afflicted planet also is a contributory factor

in deciding the value of OMI. This makes the exact time of occurrence of

the max influence, a somewhat difficult to predict, requiring SA

astrological skills of a high order.”

S37: “If the close conjs or aspcts of planets in Tr, involve two or more

FBs w.r.t. a given Asdt; it triggers happy events pertaining to the planets,

involved in the conj or aspect.”

S38: “Whenever any strong Tr FB forms close conj with or becomes closely

aspected by strong natal FBs, it triggers significant happy incidents,

pertaining to the strong Tr planet.”

S39: “A Tr FM will always afflict its natal position by conj/aspect, except

when natally placed in its own MTS.”

S40: “A natal FM will always afflict its Tr position by aspect, even when Tr

its own MTH.”

S41: “When the Su is a FB, its close conj with other well placed FBs is good

& gives exponential growth for the significations of the FBs.”
