Guest guest
Dear Mr. Bhaskar, I have gone through your e-mail to all members and I am glad that you are in right direction. I observe from your narration that you are not much aware of the late Dr. Bangalore Venkata Raman (simply called “Dr.B.V.Raman” world-wide), who is the father of the present editor of “The Astrological Magazine”. This magazine was started by the late Prof. “ Bangalore Suryanarain Rao” , Grand father of Dr.B.V.Raman , former Divan of Mysore State, at the end of 19th century. After some years, due to financial problems, it was stopped and it has been resurrected by Dr. Raman around 1934. Since then the magazine was running successfully by him without break. Dr.Raman has been known world-wide by his predictions in “The Astrological Magazine” on World War II and its course during those 7 years, which brought him laurels and fame to India Astrology. He became a legend in his life time. After he passed away in December, 1999 , his daughter Smt.Gayatri Vasudev has taken over the Editorial responsibility. This is the BEST magazine in India without any comparison. I am a regular student of this magazine for 10 years from 1990 to 2000. By the inspiration I got by the articles in the magazine, I purchased all most all Books written by Dr.B.V.Raman on Indian Astrology and prepared my own horoscope package (of course it is in Lotus 1-2-3), as the packages available in the market are not to my taste. Mainly I am giving this e-mail to advise you to study the Best Books of Dr.B.V.Raman, to get acquainted with his technical expertise in dealing with various subjects and his humble experiences in Astrology. I think you are below 40 years and have great interest in Indian Traditional Astrology. I studied by basics of Astrology at the age of 12, but started learning/teaching astrology after retirement from service in 1991. Even in 90s I could not get astrological books in market to purchase. Only from 1994/95, astrological books have flooded the market. I made out a good Library of it, having gone through nearly 120 – 150 books, by spending 1/4th of my retirement benefits. I am now running 74, CAD and Diabetic, cannot spend more than 4 to 5 hours on astrological work. In Parasari, we find 16 Divisional charts and how to prepare them, but my ambiguity is in the calculation of Shad-bala of Planets and Bhavas. In Rasi/Bhava, Shad balas can be calculated easily, but we cannot apply the same strength of planets and bhavas to all Divisional charts. I do not find the answer anywhere. Hence I have applied the method of Ashtakavargu in determining the strength of planets and bhavas in each Div. Chart. I found a little clue where the method of calculating Rasi Ashtakavargu is applied to Navamsa chart in one of the books of Dr.B.V.Raman and I am applying the same to all divisional charts which is giving satisfactory results. If anyone has any solution how to calculate the shadbala of planets and bhavas in each divisional chart, I shall be obliged to learn the same at the earliest. I have started for one thing and gone into other. The best books every Astrologer, beginner or professional, has to go through the following valuable books, which are written by Dr.B.V.Raman in lucid English. 1. Hindu Predictive Astrology 2. How to judge a Horoscope -- Volume I (Houses 1 to 6) 3. How to judge a Horoscope -- Volume II (Houses 7 to 12) 4. Graha and Bhava Balas etc. 5. My Experiences in Astrology 6. Notable Horoscopes 7. 300 Important Combinations (Yogas) 8. Ashtakavargu system of Predictions 9. Astrology for Beginners 10. Bhavardha Ratnakara And host of other books. All these are printed and published by U.B.S. Publishers and Distributors Ltd., New Delhi, Bombay, Bangalore, Madras, Calcutta, Patna, Kanpur, London. They are available with local Book Publishers/Dealers. Once you go through the books 2 and 3 above, you are destined to purchase all the publications of Dr.B.V.Raman. That is the power of his technic in dealing the subject of Astrology. May God Bless You, Sastry.
