Dear Aqua,

 

 

I was a skeptic too. I didn't believe in astrology till one day I

saw for myself the miracle it was.

 

I too was educated, both in India and abroad, in the best tradition

of rationality and logic; and I still retain most of it. My entire

working life of 40 years at IIT Delhi had been in the midst of

science and technology. The entire ambience had been one

of `scientific truth and objective reality'.

 

Astrology may not be a science in the sense we expect it to be, but

it is not all conjectures either. It too is based on well

established principles adhered to by all astrologers. In spite of

using same tools of enquiry there are good scientists and bad

scientists, similarly there are good astrologers and bad astrologers

although they use similar tools. Intuition is required by both, the

scientists and the astrologers.

 

Therefore I do not find science and astrology at variance with one

another. I feel comfortable with both.

 

 

[ 2 ] Yes, planetary placement will determine the characteristics to

a very large extent. Yes to some measure they get moderated by the

social impact and other yogic kriyas. Like in your case pranayam

will make a difference as is made by the upaya; be it LK remedies or

mantras.

 

[ 3 ] Luck is a very complicated thing. It is part past life, and

part our actions in this life. It is a sum total of 'prarabdha {

past life}' and 'pratyaksha { present}'. Planets do indicate both.

The janma kundali indicates the 'prarabdha' and the Varsh Phal

kundali the 'pratyaksha'; that is why the varsh phal kundali gets

updated every year.

 

How ever this forum is not a place to discuss all these metaphysical

issues. Moreover I haven't got the time to indulge in this luxury.
