At least in vedic astro or tantra gayan. , one can sight the energy of an individual (urjaa ). And all pooja affect this individual energy and remove paap sakti from it arsing from bad planets . Moreover we can't learn anything untill and unless you know all whys and hows of that thing. Regarding logic behind flowing one piece and keeping another I believe the reason/logic might be that when we flow one piece of metal negative effect of the planet is gone off and now only positive effect is left and that should be kept for positive effect and to safeguard from adverseries. This is just my opinion and can be wrong at anytime. I request everyone to participate with any idea/reason/logic seemingly possible so that we can learn it in a better and co-operative way.
