know nothing about Sideral Astrology. Can anyone teach me some things

about it so that i will understand what you're talking about in the

messages? Thank You.

Hello Tati,

For some basic information on sidereal signs, read the articles here:

(Parts 1, 2 and 3 and Aries-Taurus-Gemini and " Chiria's Notebook. "

http://users.snowcrest.net/sunrise/LostZodiac.htm

It's sad that there are no easily available books now on the western

sidereal system. There's a file 'sidereal zip' in the files section

of this site, but for a beginner many of the articles may be

confusing. It's best if you ask specific questions on this list after

reading the articles listed above.

Sidereal astrology is in transition--changing--since Jyotish (the

astrology of India) is gaining followers. It might be helpful to go

back and read past posts on this list or just follow the discussion

for awhile.

Sincerely,

Therese

Hi Therese,

I wonder if the term sidereal should just be used to to refer to Fagan's

premise and other terms used in reference to Hindu. This might seem

provincial to some so I would really like to know how others feel on this.

I think you will say that the word should cover the greater area, i.e., any

and all constellational astrology.

I think Sidereal refers to any zodiacal determination based on a

fixed Zodiac, not just the Fagan/Allen determination. The Indian

systems, except that which is specifically Tropical, can deemed to be

Sidereal in nature.

D*S,

I think sidereal has to be the term that relates to any astrological

system that uses the sidereal zodiac. There are different versions of

Jyotish now (Traditional Hindu, Systems Approach, etc.), but they all

use the sidereal zodiac. On some lists now the zodiac discussion is

becoming bigger and it's always Tropical/Sidereal.

It seems to me that it should just be " The Fagan School of

Astrology, " which is more descriptive than 'western sidereal.'

This is only one suggestion, though...Actually, what IS the western

sidereal system now? Cyril Fagan's writings were more like a system-

in-process. There were disagreements and experiments when Fagan and

other early siderealists died. This is the problem. Western sidereal

was never a finished system, and there isn't a single comprehensive

text which covers it all. How could there be when a foundation was

laid but the structure never completed?

For some reason posts from this list and others aren't coming into my

e-mail box, so I'm going to be missing some posts. I'm writing this

post on the Sidereal site.

Therese,

I believe that I will have to go along with that. With my original trailer

about " covering the greater area " it could be said I was half way there.

Now what is this about Fagan being inaccurate about some of the signs?

Example?

Maybe I'm just forgetting because of the hour.

Constellations on an astrological line should always refer to 30 degrees

without even saying so. When it doesn't the preface should be astronomical

constellations. Going on about skinny little Libra in no way advances the

science of our Arte. That is astronomical palaver.
