Dear Lalkitabists,

Time and again I have come across the term " purkhon ka makaan " in

lalkitab but this term really intrigues me. What should really be

taken as Ancesteral house;

1. The house where one's grand parents lived or where one's father

was born & brought up? One may not have ever seen or stepped in that

house in one's life time.

2. The house built by one's own father which may be different from

the one built by one's grand father and so on. One may or may not be

born in that house or even lived in that house.

3. The house that may have be aquired by way of will from father or

grand father but one may never have seen or lived there.

In modern times there could be many such instances, so it really

becomes difficult to decide which one to consider. In certain case

there may be 2 or 3 conditions applicable, as cited above.

This may particularly more true in case of those living or settled

abroad and or in case of their children. I would like to hear the

views of our learned Lalkitabists in this forum on this query.

Appreciate your time and thanks in advance.

Regards.

Nigam
