Attn : Manoj Sharma - Pitr - Rin kundali

Dear Manoj ji ,

Pitra-Rin

Since we enjoy the wealth, name and fame earned by our

ancestors we are equally liable to suffer their misdeeds too. The

dosh created as a result of the bad deeds of our ancestors is paitrik-

dosh or pitra-rin or pitra-shrap. Even in the legal system we are

held responsible for the debts of our forefathers similarly in

astrology too we have to pay their debts. Brahat parashar gives 14

kinds of pitra-shrap, Mantreshwar in phal deepika says that rahu in

the 5th creates pishach-badha, Gopal Ratnakar calls it sarp-shrap. In

the traditional vedic astrology Rahu is considered the main cause of

these dosh .

Lal Kitab in its 1952 edition discusses this problem in great

detail along with its remedies . I quote from Lal Kitab :

{ghar nauve ho koi grah baitha,

budh baitha jad saathi ho

rin pitri us ghar se hoga ,

asar grah sab nisphal ho ;

saathi grah jab jad koi kate ,

drishti magar wo chhupta ho

paanch ,barah, do, nau koi mande,

rin pitri ban jaata ho }

These lines describe three conditions of pitra-rin:

[ 1 ] ' ghar nauve ho koi grah baitha , budh baitha jad saathi

ho ' ---- If there is a grah in the 9th house and Mercury occupies

the rashi of that grah then it will be a pitr-rin kundali. For

example jupiter is in the 9th house and if Mercury is in either

sagittarius or pisces , or venus is in the 9th and mercury is in

taurus or libra .

[ 2 ] ' saathi grah jab jad koi kate , drishti magar wo chhuptaa

ho ' --- when the enemy planets occupy a rashi and is not aspected by

the rashi lord , the kundali will be of pitr-rin. For example if the

enemy planets of saturn like sun , moon or mars occupy either makar

or kumbha and if not aspected by saturn .

[ 3 ] 'paanch barah nau do koi mande , rin pitra ban jaata ho' --- if

there is an enemy planet of Jupiter like venus or mercury in the

5th , 12th , 9th and 2nd then also it will be a pitr-rin kundali .

The Lal kitab suggests remedies in detail for pitr-rin arising out of

such situations . It provides the detailed cause of these debts , the

grah involved and its remedies. I have not seen such a detail in any

other book on astrology.

Upadhyay Jee,

May I offer a couple of comments on the description given by you of "Pitri Rin ?"

1. Pirti Rin should be determined collectively from the entire family's horoscope. It must NOT be determined from one individual's horoscope. For example, if Mercury for the entire family is in the 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, 11th or 12th houses and, the current happenings in the family (for the entire generation) are in sync with Mercury being a melefic, then we can conclude that Mercury is in Rin Pitri condition and take appropriate remedial measures. Any decision based on a single horoscope will be inappropriate.

2. I am using your comments here, underlined where you have used sagittaius, pisces, taurus, libra etc. Please note that LalKitab does not refer to the Rashis at all, but to the house numbers. It is imperitive that you write sign '1' in the ascendant (regardless of the actual asdendant sign) and '2' in the second house etc. while using any of the LalKitab concepts. Per LalKitab, a planet has the ownership of a house and not that of a Rashi occupying a house. That is one of the most fundamental and distinct features of LalKitab and it does cause a lot of confusion and misundestanding when the traditional Vedic astrology is mixed with LalKitab astrlogy.

and '2' in the second house.

[ 1 ] ' ghar nauve ho koi grah baitha , budh baitha jad saathi ho ' ---- If there is a grah in the 9th house and Mercury occupies the rashi of that grah then it will be a pitr-rin kundali. For example jupiter is in the 9th house and if Mercury is in either sagittarius or pisces , or venus is in the 9th and mercury is in taurus or libra . Everyone is welcome to comment on this.

Dear Bhatia ji,

I know what you mean. According to my understanding, of the three

couplets the first two talk of the rasi and the third one talks of

the pakka ghar of Jup. If this distinction was not to be made then he

could have said ' jad guru jab ho manda, rin pitr ban jaata ho'

instead of giving the pakka ghar of jup.

sincerely,

upadhyay
