Dear Bhatia ji ,

You might to the dream theory but

I can't . Regarding the authorship of the book I still consider it

as ' collected and documented from the prevalent tradition' . I do

not understand why Joshi ji could not use his name as an author. The

british might have been against writing seditious material but not a

book on astrology . Even if that being true he could have used his

name in the 1952 edition , there were no british then. Any way that's

not my concern, all I am interested in is what the book contains.

As far as Pt. Roop Chand Joshi ji is concerned , I respect

him as one of the most illustrious practitioners of the Lal Kitab but

it does not mean that there are not many others equally sincere in

the study of this book. I don't see any reason why you should be so

hostile to Pt. Krishna Ashant ji. To me ,he and many others like him,

are all very respected scholars of the tradition.

Now coming to myself , I am fond of collecting books on

astrology , although don't find much time to read yet, yes may be a

year later when I retire. I have a small collection of may be 300

odd, of which Lal Kitab is just a section. I have the original Urdu

1952ed.A hindi script version with notes on the margin , one of the

rare copies of 1952 ed ,. This is a very authentic transcription of

the original Urdu edition . I have got it compared with the original

version. I have four volumes from Arun publications, the entire set

of books by Ashant ji , Dwivedi ji , Dhanvantri ji and

mahamahopadhyay Kalyan Dutta Sharma ji . Therefore to say that my

comments were based just on Ashant ji's perception is wrong. I too am

an academician and can have my own independent views.

But when we discuss matters such as the origin or the disputed

authorship of a book there is nothing sacrosanct and no criticism a

sacrilege . I respect your views but I am afraid I can't agree with

them.

With regards,

upadhyay
