Namaste,

For future JHora releases, I will adopt a different method. I will first release alpha and beta versions on jhrora . After they are tested by people and major bugs are fixed, a formal release of that version will be made on all and my website.

Please download jh73_update.zip file from the following link ("save as"). It is less than 1 MB in size!

www.VedicAstrologer.org/jh/jh73_update.zip

You MUST have previously installed JHora 7.3 before updating to 7.31 beta using this update. If you have not, first install that (www.VedicAstrologer.org/jh has instructions). Then download this new zip file, unzip it and run jh73_update.exe that you get by unzipping. Your JHora will be updated to 7.31 beta.

This mainly fixes the issue with vishnu nabhi based chitrapaksha ayanamsa (modified Lahiri). It also remembers the amsa used in amsa ruler view. It also copies rasi-navamsa charts together to a bitmap for pasting in books (Shanmukha's request).

Only major bugs and regressions will be fixed now and JHora 7.31 official release will be made in a couple of days.

Well, I downloaded on my home PC and office computer and it unzips and installs

fine on both. It seems like your connection has a problem.

Thanks,

Dear Narasimha

I downloaded file (you had extra spaces in the URL link that need to be

removed)and had two issues with installation on a " Vista " PC:

1. Says that " swedll32.dll " was not found but suggests that a re-

install attempt may fix the issue.

2. When you attempt a re-install it comes up with a " DeleteFile Error "

return code of 5 as it can't delete Jhora.exe in the bin directory.

After the install, you can't start the program still because of the

missing DLL. I will try and look for it and see what I find.

Thank you

Hello,

Do you have a working 7.3 version of JHora on the same PC on which you tried to install the update?

The update does not install any DLL. It only updates jhora.exe file. The DLL file and several other files gave to be there from before. If not, "update" does not work. First load 7.3 version from mywebsite.

The URL I sent had no spaces in it - only an underscore.

Yes, I had a working version of 7.3.. and later I removed the older

version of JHora from a different directory, that may have deleted

some DLLs. Any rate, I copied the SWEDLL from someplace else, JHora

comes up ok. I will re-install the original 7.3 and the update again

to be sure.

Sorry for troubling you.

Namaste,

Just re-install 7.3. Then run the update executable. You should be all set.

Another thing..close all JHora windows before running the update.

No trouble..

Hi Narayan,I use CrossOver as well - it works perfectly as long as you don't change any folder names once you've installed (because it can't find its path). To install the upgrade: un-zip it to your desktopopen CrossOverchoose "Configure" from the drop-downsselect "Install Software"select "Install Unsupported Software"click "Continue" in the next windowselect "Other existing bottle" and then choose the bottle that JH7.3 is in, then "Continue"select "Choose Installer File", the click "Install"then a window opens showing you your desktop - click the JH.exe file & you're done!Usually I don't have the software open immediately because I like to have CrossOver finish completely, but with this upgrade, JH started automatically. Then I had to tell CrossOver to "Force Finish" which it did, and closed. The upgrade works perfectly, and as Narasimha promised, it remembered my color preferences even though I save the jhora.ini file on my flash drive just in case.I'm going to put 7.2 in the trash now that I've learned to install 7.3 in its own folder. Previously I had the upgrades in the same folder, but when I trashed the older versions, the newest wouldn't work. And remember you can't change folder names once you've installed. One last wonderful thing I discovered - when I originally installed 7.3, I made sure to choose a "new bottle" to install into (since 7.3 is the whole, stand-alone program) and made sure to name it 7.3 and then chose "winxp" as the bottle type. Now, for the 1st time, I can open all the help menus!! The only problem I have now is that I have to use my mouse for right-clicking in the program - I can't use the keyboard, which is my preference. I don't know if I can change my keyboard settings for more PC type keyboard functionality, maybe I'll call Apple. Nor did I divide my hard drive, buy XP for $300 and VMware Fusion 2 for $80 so that I could use JH in a Windows environment since this is the only Windows program I use. I'm just so thankful for Narasimha & CrossOver that I can use the program at all.Blessings to all,JulliOn Dec 9, 2008, at 10:59 PM, naaraayana_iyer wrote:Hi Julli,Which virtual software do you use to run windows software on your Mac?I use CodeWeaver's Crossover. Dear Julli,

Thanks! It worked like a charm. Regarding keyboard simulation, you can set it up

in

Crossover Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse and perhaps you would get better help

if you

call Codeweaver (makers of Crossover) than Apple.

Regards

-Narayan-

Om Namah Sivaya

Dear Narasimha,

Thank you very much for your update on JHora. I tried the new copy

chart options and I am listing below my findings.

First, I have chosen to display only planets including Rahu and

Ketu. I have disabled all others like Arudha Lagna, other Arudhas,

Ghatika Lagna etc. Then, I tried to copy the chart using Copy Chart -

> as a 300 dpi bitmap for books (Rasi – Navamsa). The program saved

a file d1_d9.bmp in the working directory. I found that other

parameters like AL, GL, SL, HL, Md, Gk etc. were also getting

displayed in the saved file, though I disabled the displaying them.

Then, I tried with other option Copy Chart -> as bitmap (Rasi –

Navamsa), yet in this case also the same result.

Then, I tried to disable using right click on the Miscellany pane

and choosing the option Select bodies to be shown. Yet the same

result.

Hence, I think this might have been programmed in that way. I

request you see this issue as well if time permits.

Though, I am afraid that I am asking too much, but I want to list

out the following additions to JHora, and request you to see the

possibility of including them.

1.As of now, we can copy Rasi and Navamsa side by side. Can we have

an option to select other combinations as well, for example, Rasi

and Drekkana, Navamsa and Drekkana etc.? This option will be very

useful since Rajayogas in Jaimini are always connected to Rasi,

Navamsa and Drekkana and will be useful for books as well.

2.The information like the degrees of Lagna, planets etc are printed

now as 5Le05 etc. If that also could be shown in the regional

language selected, then it completely becomes multilingual software.

I *guess* it requires a lot of code changing.

3.You have provided a number of divisional charts and I find only

one is missing. That is Krishna Mishra Navamsa dealt with in Jyotish

Phalaratnamala. Though, this is not popular, may this can be an

option for comprehensive Jaimini divisional charts. I can give you

the relevant sloka from Phalaratnamala and since Sanskrit text is

not allowed in this message board, I am giving below interpretation

of Sri Rangacharya. You can find it also in Jaimini Sutramritam

book. I have tried to send a ready reckoner table for your ready

reference using the Rich Text Editor(Beta) option while composing a

couple of times, but that message is failed to get displayed on the

message board. May be there may be problem with the editor. So, The

relevant sloka and a ready reckoner table I have given at my blog

http://sutramritam.blogspot.com and interested readers may kindly

visit.

Construction of Krishna Mishra Navamsa chart

For Aries, Leo and Sagittarius the Navamsa reckoning starts direct

from Aries. For Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, the Navamsa count is

reverse from Capricorn. For Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, the Navamsa

count is direct from Libra. For Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, the

count is reverse from Cancer. It must be understood that Navamsa

reckoning always starts from Movable sign, which is in accordance

with Parasara.

Warm regards,

Shanmukha
