Dear all ,

I was wondering if the tithi calculation needs to be done taking into consideration the place of birth or the place tht we currently live in ?

thanks and regards,

You'll need your tithi to celebrate birth days, samkar karmas etc, celebrate festivals. It needs to be in the place you live not your birth place. One can take birth in the middle of no where but thithi for future use needs to be calculated based on where he lives.

I've seen following sloka on the website somewhere... (mypanchang.com) It pretty much says the same thing.

Namaste,

If you us geocentric positions, centre of earth is used as the referenc. So the actual place taken does not matter.

But then the problem is the tithi ending time might vary from place to place.

Namaste,

The point I was making is: If you use geocentric positions, it won't change.

With topocentric positions, it may change a little from place to place.
