Guest guest
Namaste Sri Narasimha Garu, Thank you very much for releasing the recent version of JHora. May God bless you to continue the great work for the Astrologer fraternity. I have gonr through the recent version and I was disappointed for two reasons. Of course, this doesn't let the value of Jhora down. Here, I explain the two things I am most concerned. I had already made these points through this forum in the past. In fact, you have personally contacted me some time back and I responded to the same. 1. Firstly, As far I know, Sri Iranganti Rangacharya is still alive, but Info in JHora sounds otherwise. You promised me that you would correct it in furture release, and that is not happened in the recent version. Of course, this is not a very big issue. 2. Second one is a big one. As I already reported the " Chara Dasa of Irnaganti Rangacharya " calculations are not correct always. B'coz the Chara dasa should be calculated differently for male and female native. But, JHora doesn't have the option to enter the gender of the native. This is a big problem. Since, As you know, Sri Rangacharya follows the commentary of Raghava Bhatta and Nrisimha Suri, the Chara dasa for female natives starts from 4th house from lagna for odd sign and 10th house (i.e 4th in anti clockwise) for even sign. For male natives the starting sign is always the lagna. For example I am showing below the Chara Dasa Calculations of Smt. Indira Gandhi accroding to Sri Rangacharya vide his recent book " A Manual of jaimini Astrology " page no 70. SNo Rasi Years ---- ----- ------- 1 Aries 7 2 Pisces 2 3 Aquarius 7 4 Capricorn 10 5 Saggitarius 7 6 Scorpio 9 7 Libra 10 8 Virgo 2 9 Leo 9 10 Cancer 10 11 Gemini 7 12 Taurus 7 Now, the calculation by JHora using no exceptions and Saturn and Mars as Stronger lords and no comparision of strength of signs. I used the above options since Sri Rangacharya never speak of exceptions. Chara dasa of Iranganti Rangacharya (modified version of a phalita rasi dasa): Maha Dasas: Cn: 1917-11-19 - 1923-11-20 (6 years) Ge: 1923-11-20 - 1928-11-19 (5 years) Ta: 1928-11-19 - 1933-11-20 (5 years) Ar: 1933-11-20 - 1941-11-20 (8 years) Pi: 1941-11-20 - 1943-11-20 (2 years) Aq: 1943-11-20 - 1948-11-19 (5 years) Cp: 1948-11-19 - 1954-11-20 (6 years) Sg: 1954-11-20 - 1959-11-20 (5 years) Sc: 1959-11-20 - 1962-11-20 (3 years) Li: 1962-11-20 - 1972-11-20 (10 years) Vi: 1972-11-20 - 1974-11-20 (2 years) Le: 1974-11-20 - 1977-11-20 (3 years) As you can above, the chara Dasa started from Aries (the 4th in anticlock) in Sri Rangacharya's calculations instead of Cancer in JHora. I briefly explain the procedure adopted by Sri Rangacharya. For male natives, Sri Rangacharya uses the following procedure. 1. Dasa years are calculated as the count from the sign lord to dasa sign, clockwise or anti clockwise according to oddity of the sign. No deduction of one year. 2. Dasas Start always from the lagna. 3. Dasas move clock wise or anti clockwise according to the odd or even nature of sign respectively. 4. No exaltation and debilitation is considered. 5. Always Saturn and Mars are the lords of Aquarius and Scorpio respectively. 6. The padakrama order is followed. 7. The Ojapada and Vishama pada is not considered and chara dasa always start from Lagna and move clockwise or anti clockwise according to the oddity of lagna , not the pada of 9th sign. For female natives, Sri Rangacharya uses the following procedure in addition to above. 1. Deduction of one year from the no of years counted from the dasa lord to dasa sign as Dasa length. 2. 10 years as Dasa length if the lord of a sign is in 7th from it. 3. Dasa start from the 4th house from lagna clockwise or anti clockwise according to oddity of lagna sign. I learnt from his articles that he again considers the padakrama order even for the antaradasa calculations, though not explicitly explained neither in his Sutramritam nor in his recent book. Where as, we start AD from the sign occupied by the lord of dasa sign in Narayana Dasas. I checked the Jhora and found Antaradasas start as in case of Narayana Dasas. Hence, I think the total algorithm form the calculation need to be changed if it were to be named as " Chara Dasa By Iranganti Rangacharya " . I pray GOD to shower blessings on you to continue the great work. Regards, Shanmukha PS: Ofcourse, not connected with the software, I would like to request our SJC members try to bring the commentaries on Jaimini Astrology into light. I know most of the manuscripts are now kept under the custody of Astrological families, but still a few are available in Govt Oriental Libraries in India. I wish to tell one experience I faced a couple of months back. I found from one a old Astrological Magazine that Phala Ratnamala of Somanatha Mishra is available in printed form at Madras Oriental Library. I went from Hyderabad to Chennai and found only two copies are available in torned condition. I could not xerox the book since the curator didn't permit me. I was not prepared to take Digtal camera with me, I somehow managed to photograph the book by hiring a normal camera. And obviously, the photo quality was not good and I am trying to get photographed by Digital camera and would like to share with others. As far I know, Kalpalatha by Krishna Misra is avaialble with Sri Madhira Krishna Murty of Rajahmundry only. Why I tell this is that these classics are our heritage and we, as Astrologers shall try our best to bring them to light. I know, SJC is a step ahead of others in this issue. Guest guest
Namaste, I programmed Iranganti Ramgacharya's Chara dasa based on my understanding on reading his book.
