A blunder in calendar calculating

Dear Jyotishi,

I just found out while calculating some charts in regard to Gulika's

position that I haven't been able to find the correct calculation with the

normal weekday used for calculating these upagrahas. Now it came to mind

that our wonderful Western calendar has been adjusted by some " brilliant "

scientists in Oct 1582!! Namely they changed the calendar from Oct 5th to

Oct 15th the next day in order to match their calculations of precession.

So the 6th which would have normally been a Sunday became the 15th which

was a Tuesday in the calendar. A blunder of astronomical hights.... but

keep it in mind when you work with Gulika!

Also, if you use Jhora for your calculations, switch the calendar setting

from Gregorian to Julian, you will see the change in Sun's longitude as to

coming the same as the previous day from Oct 15th 1582.

Ys,

Dhira Krsna dasa,
