Horoscope of babies born in USA - and the time change.

Namaste, We are trying to get the birth chart for my grand son who is born in Virginia USA. While doing this, after putting the right place, the time zone shows 4 hours and the Day light saving time defaults to Western GMT. He was born in Virginia which I think is on east coast of USA. So should we change the day light saving to eastern GMT?. or should we change the time zone column value too? Please shed some light on this topic. Initially when we were researching on this topic, we came to know that we should add 10 and 1/2 hours to the USA birth time. Please advise us on the right way to get the horoscope of USA born kids. I use Lahiri. Or perhaps another setting is different.Can you provide me with the default settings used by the group duringthe weekly classes?Thanks.Shirish

Even though Virginia is on the east coast of USA, it is to the west of GMT. Normally, the time used in Virginia is 5 hours west of GMT and indeed 10 and 1/2 hours behind India time (5+5 1/2=10 1/2). However, when daylight savings time is in use (approximately April-Oct), the timezone becomes 4 hours west of GMT and it is 9 and 1/2 hours behind India time.

 

My advice is: Just enter the exact time your grandson was born, without adding or subtracting anything from it. Then select the town, make sure its longitude and laittude have come and then leave the timezone given by JHora (whether it is 4 hrs or 5 hrs west of GMT). You will be done with it.

Ayanamsa Question

Greetings:I am currently going through the MP3 lessons of the weekly astrologyclasses. I am on lesson 29 -- Narayan dasa.
