JHora 7.02 upgrade doesn't work still on Windows 95

Dear Narasimha ,

 

Namaskaar.

 

I tried installing the new Jhora for the 3rd time and it still doesn't

work on my computer. Still the same error: Runtime error.

 

Can it be solved, or my computer is too old?

First a big thanks to you for allowing us all to download such a great

software as you created!.

I just downloaded again the shorter version of 3.5 MB of JH7.0 and

installed it anew, but the problem persists. I have Windows 95, and

installation went without problem but when trying to run the program it

mentions: Runtime error - abnormal program termination.

What to do?

 

If you don't mind, I also would like to request you to send me the CD,

since I would like to do very precise research for old charts, like Jesus,

Krsna etc. It is a big file, but I can try getting more memory.

Dear Dhira,

If you could give the details of your machine

Like Memory Capacity, Other Application running when JHora

Crashed, Version of Windows 95 etc it may help Narasimhaji.

Windows 95 is very different system than current windows,

Mayber the way it handles registry of application installed are

different.

I am not sure, but if I can just make wild guess, Try these

a) Increase Virtual memory in Windows 95,

b) If you do not have very many applications installed in your

machine try reinstalling OS. I know this sounds crazy, But

it may help. This helps sometimes!

You never know when Narasimhaji may get time to look into this

problem.

Dear Dhira Krsna,

 

Windows 95 is too old an operating system. Even Microsoft no longer supports Windows 95.

 

Unfortunately, I don't have a Windows 95 machine to debug this problem.

 

When it gives a run-time error, does it have a button for debug information. What are the buttons you have in the dialog box that informs you of the runtime error?

 

If there is any additional info on the error (like was the case in Windows 98), I may be able to debug this with your help. Please reply to me privately at pvr.

Windows 4.00.950.B

16 MB RAM

total Memory 450MB

it's an old laptop

other applications aren't running when Jhora doesn't start, (it didn't

crash, it just doesn't start)

But I have many applications there. Perhaps I have too little free disk

space? It's quite full.

Otherwise I may try to do the first option you gave here.
