I have often wondered why a default value of 365.2425days is given for the normal solar year for dasa calculations. The length of the sidereal year is 365.2563 days. The value 365.2425 for a solar year is based on the mean solar return on the vernal equinox i.e., is based on the definition of tropical year. However due to the precision of equinoxes, the return to the point of start according to the zodiac is little longer and is somewhere near 365.2563 which can vary a bit based on the definition of the duration of precision cycle. Since we use the solar return as the true measure for year, the only subtitute in terms of mean year can only be the mean sidereal year and not mean tropical year. I request Narasimha to consider this. As for changing the behavior of the default solar year in the software, I will look into it. But you can use a custom year and get the behavior you want for now.
