Guest guest
... hamsasso.aham .. Dear Narasimha, Can you please explain JHora’s calculation of the initiating sign for Navamsa / Mandooka dasa? As per Jaimini sutras (GD translation & notes on sutra 2.4.15), Mandooka dasa is calculated as follows: 1) Commence from ascendant or adarsa sign based on oddity of lagna 2) Reckon dasas zodiacally / anti-zodiacally with mandooka gati based on oddity of lagna 3) Eg. Sco lagna: Ari, Aqu, Sag, Lib, Leo But, it looks like JHora is doing something different: 1) Commence from 11th house 2) Reckon dasas zodiacally / anti-zodiacally with mandooka gati based on oddity of lagna 3) Eg. Sco lagna: Vir, Can, Tau, Pis The notes under 2.4.15 say that an “odd sign always initiates the dasa”, while this is certainly not the case here. We’re also told “the sign initiating the manduk dasa is the same as the Navamsa dasa”, while neither of these methods seems to give the initiating sign for JH’s Navamsa dasa. Can you please clarify? Thanks, ajit
