Guest guest
I am currently reading a book, Leaving India by Minal Hazratwala in which the author has provided her birth data as well as important information about herself. However, she does not mention if the time of birth provided is standard time or daylight savings time. The standard time gives Makar lagna and is this whereas daylight savings time (-1) gives Dhanu lagna. My question to you is this: which lagna is correct? The woman is highly educated, a journalist, and has just come out with an important book. She is also well-traveled. She is a lesbian/bisexual (unmarried and no children.) She has a younger brother and her parents are living. She lost her virginity at 17. She is not only brilliant but an extremely honest and sincere person. The book is excellent. Data for this writer: July 12, 1971 19:42 PDT or PST, San Francisco, CA --Radha
Guest guest
DST is applicable for the given date. Hence, Dhanu lagna is correct. Guest guest
Yes, there is some indication. Please notice that 8th lord of sexuality Moon is in Srinkhala (a variation of parivartana) with Saturn, Venus and Mercury. Venus is the 11th lord and Saturn is the second lord. 2L Saturn occupies Taurus. The indication is not very strong as 4 planets are involved in this combination. It is interesting note that a similar Srinkhala is seen in Navamsha as well between Ven-Sat-Jup-Sun where Jupiter is the 8th lord. Hence, the tendency is visible. Guest guest
Dear Radhaji Thanks for the details. I did take look at her snap on the net.I will give my comments later. You can also look at her teeth and smile. Can you please give the following feedback. Why did she give her birth time ? Does she know Jyotish. Exalted Mars makes her a logician in the 5th from karakamsha lagna. Rahu there will make her under Jyotish principles as per classics. However these two planets will also give her some health worries related to stomach and pulmonary. If it is Dhanu Lagna , ealted Mars+ Rahu in 2nd, will give her excellent sarcastic or similar strong humour sense. Is this reflected in her writings? Will give detailed analysis including lesbian tendencies using classical principles as another mail. Guest guest
Pradeepji, She gives the time of her birth in her book. She also writes dismissively about a visit to an astrologer in Navsari, who told her she was stubborn, " great difficulty in education and had failed several times " , this of a person who did very well in school, graduated from Stanford Univ. and did graduate work at Columbia Univ.! --Radha , " vijayadas_pradeep " <vijayadas_pradeep wrote: > > Dear Radhaji > > Thanks for the details. Guest guest
The only writing I have read is this recent book which is a story of her family migration over the last 200 years from Gujarat to Fiji, South Africa, Australia and the U.S. It is very well-written but not humorous. She is also supposed to be a performer. So that shows some kind of acting ability. --Radha , " vijayadas_pradeep " <vijayadas_pradeep wrote: > > Dear Radhaji > > Thanks for the details. Guest guest
Radha Ji, Since most people would just know and report whatever clock time was prevalent, it would be a safe assumption that the '19:42' was PDT which was in effect during the birth epoch. Guest guest
RRji, I agree with what you say. But her parents were educated and sent the information to a grandmother who had the horoscope prepared by an astrologer in India. So they may have factored in the deduction for DST. Someone should ask the author herself. But shouldn't the horoscope (Dhanu or Makar) reflect it? --Radha , " Rohiniranjan " <jyotish_vani wrote: > > Radha Ji, > > Since most people would just know and report whatever clock time was prevalent, it would be a safe assumption that the '19:42' was PDT which was in effect during the birth epoch. > > Rohiniranjan > > , " aphoton47 " <aphoton@> wrote: > > > > I am currently reading a book, Leaving India by Minal Hazratwala in which the > > author has provided her birth data as well as important information about > > herself. Guest guest
Radha ji, The doubts you raise and voice are valid and perhaps your surmise is correct and the *uncertainty* rightly described in your most recent message. I have not read the book so don't know if the birthtime shared by the authoress in her public sharing was based on what her parents sent to her grandmother or if it was simply reproduced from birth certificate or similar records. Some countries indicate the time of birth, others do not. Obama's birthcertificate had the time which then put to rest many 'probabilities and possibilities', for example. You are right though: if one is really interested, they can ask the nativity herself but she may be busy or non-responsive and that often is the problem with celebrities. Jyotish-afficianados need not lament though! There are many other records that may be available readily now that Rodden's huge database is freely available by the categories from astrodienst website. :-) Why guess, speculate and waste time when alternative data are readily available! Particularly when the guesses and speculations cannot be verified and validated through feed-back? So many variables and confounders already bless jyotish -- why add to the confusion and Khichdi with a questionable birthtime -- is what a simpleton like me would wonder about...! Sorry for any interruption caused by me... Rohiniranjan , " aphoton47 " <aphoton wrote: > > RRji, > I agree with what you say. Guest guest
Hello Radha, For Capricorn Ascendant 1.Exalted Mars lord of 4H(education) in Ascendant shows that she is highly educated. She could also own good property. 2.Rahu is not afflicting Mars or the ascendant due to wide orb but could give— Many changes, lack of peace Struggle with self image Eccentric Wealthy Strong will Beauty 3. 9L Me is afflicted by Ra/Ke axis and Su is in 6H. This would give a difficult relationship with father. This is one reason for lesbian tendencies. 4. Concerns relating to sexuality can also be seen with Ve in a dual sign in 6H. 5. If using equal cusps or MEPs for an early Capricorn ascendant, Ju afflicts 3,5,7,11 houses. House of children and partner are afflicted. When you have finished reading the book could you give a brief summary with dates of some important events in her life. This would be good for research. Birth of only sibling--a brother--2 years and four days after her birth. Within six months of her birth in San Francisco the family emigrated to New Zealand. Family moved back to the U.S. when author was seven. Traveled 3,000 miles to Stanford Univ. at 17. Graduated in three years. Within a month her father had a triple bypass operation. To write the book she traveled all over the world. --Radha
Guest guest
Rohini Ranjanji, The time is what was sent in the telegram by the father to his mother. I do not think that I will ask the author about the DST question. She is very transparent in the amount of information she has given in the book. If the Lagna makes no difference--or, if both lagnas say the same thing--what is the whole point of astrology? I am glad that I have at least done some publicity for the book. No author would object to that! --Radha , " Rohiniranjan " <jyotish_vani wrote: > > Radha ji, > > The doubts you raise and voice are valid and perhaps your surmise is correct and the *uncertainty* rightly described in your most recent message.
