What is the purpose of the texts from which you are trying to derive chronology? Now people who want to construct history try to define a new purpose for ancient texts namely historic accuracy! Ultimately for any practitioner, historic accuracy of the data in those texts is simply irrelevant. As far as the texts themselves are concerned, history is at most a sidelight. Hinduism has never been person or event centric, it has been idea-centric. And the current model of constructing history itself, is quite different from that. If only our ancestors had acquired a little more respect for preserving our historical heritage, especially the Brahmins who corrupted chronological frameworks just to appease the lowly origin kings including the Guptas we would not have been in this peculiar situation. Dates are supremely important [not the fantastic 7000 B.C for ramayana types!] as all theories like OIT require the RV origins to be be at least a few hundred years before the origins of the IVS. hinducivilization, "ymoharir" <ymoharir@.. .> wrote: > > Namaste Dr. K and learned list members: > > Is it really important to remain obsessed with dates? How does it really matter if the dates are 1000 or 3,000 or 30,000 yrs if we do not understand the significance of the practical knowledge encompassed within these R^icha's ! > > R^ico axare parame vyoman yasmin devaa adhi vish{}ve niSheduH . > yastanna veda kimR^icaa kariShyati ya ittad vidusta ime samaasate .. But if one does not understand their meaning then what is the use of such veda for him? One who realizes this; lives together with understanding stays in a harmonious society. > > Kind Regards, > > Dr. Yadu. > > > > > > hinducivilization, "S.
