Dear Friends,

 

This set of questions is interesting.

This can be a good learning exercise for all.

 

1a) Does the Sun have latitude?

1b) What is the maximum latitude of the Moon?

 

2a) What is elongation?

2b) Give the maximum elongation of Mercury and Venus?

2c) What maximum distance can be there between these two inferior

planets

to an observer from the Earth ?

 

3) What is Naibods measure? What does it represent?

 

4) What is the daily average motion of the Moon?

 

5a) Give the length of the solar and Lunar years.

5b) What difference is there between the two?

5c) How is this difference adjusted in a calendar.

 

6) What is mutual reception?

 

7) What is part of Fortune? What does it represent apart from the

mathematical formulae?

 

8) What is the time taken for completing one revolution along the orbit

by the following Planets -Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune.

 

9) Give the uses of the day in the following uses -

9a) Solar Mean day.

9b) Sidereal day.

9c) Lunar day.

 

10) What is sidereal time ?

 

11) What is the effects of retrograde planet -

11a) According to Occidental astrology.

11b) According to Indain astrology.

 

12)Give 3 illustrations where according to Indian method -

12a) Mars and Saturn aspect each other.

12b) Mars alone aspects Saturn.

12c) Saturn alone aspects Mars.

(In all 3 charts keep position of Saturn same)

 

13) Why is the South represented as the top of the Astrological chart?

 

14) The 9 Planets are shown in the Horoscope. But where is the Earth to

be seen in that

Horoscope. Where could it be, though not represented diagrammatically?

 

15) Which signs have 2 planets ruling them since the discovery of extra

Saturnine planets?

 

16) State the house of the chart in which the Sun should be posited,

when the chart is correctly calculated for the following local times.

16a) One past Noon.

16b) 9 in the morning.

16c) 3 past noon.

16d) 6 in the evening.

 

17) What is an intercepted sign and intercepted planet? What are the

effects of this phenomenon? Write a short note.

 

18) The Triplicities (Elements) provoke reactions which reflect the

qualities of each element. Which element would you expect to find

stressed in chart of individuals who:

 

18a) Take a detached intellectual view of Life.

18b) Solve problems by dashing headlong at them.

18c) Are easily affected by atmosphere and emotional needs.

18d) Plot out and plan every step before taking it.

Also give your reasons " Why " in every case.

 

19) State your own Sun sign and set out which other Sun signs you feel

most comfortable with ;those whom you feel awkward with :Explain your

reasons in each case.

 

20) When you board the plane for a long trip, you wonder what sign rules

such a means of travel. Surely it must be a sign that suggests

technological advances and benefits large groups of people .What sign is

,interested in astrology. You compare charts. You have most planets on

the eastern half, your friend has majority of planets on the western

half of the chart. Who would be most likely to invite the other to

lunch?

 

26) You enter an interesting bookstore, hoping to find some rare and

unusual vloumes.The fascination of with books and reading likely to be

especially strong for you if you were born under one of the signs ruled

by planet ruling the mental outlook. Which one of two signs?

 

27) In Hollywood in the old Chinese Theatre you see the footprints of

the stars - You realise how appropriate footprints are to commemorate

the movie industry. The sign that rules films, illusion, glamour, also

rules the feet. Which one?

 

28) But there are also handprints of the stars at aforesaid place

exhibited. What signs rules both communications and the hands?

 

29) The Cine stars are applauded by the fans. You realise that such

attention and adulation could mean that a " certain " attention-loving

egocentric sign must be found often in the chart of the film industry's

great past, and future. What is it?

 

30) What planet that rules luck -rules all things very large?

 

31) Dominating the cluster of guests is a tall ruddy faced man who looks

important. His dramatic voice is so entertaining that you join the crowd

around him, certain that this man must be a ____________ Native.

 

32) You see a man, like a mysterious stranger standing in the shadows,

saying very little, but his dark piercing eyes seem to speak volumes. He

has to be a _____________ Native.

 

33) Astrologically speaking members of which sign might be attracted

most to domestic products?

 

34) In the economy -minded shoppers, would you be more likely to find

more representatives of the sign Leo or sign Virgo in the crowd?

 

 

Note:

 

1) We have some queries here related to Western astrology. One need not

be averse to something Not Indian. After all research may show in future

that what we consider as foreign may have actually originated from India

only. This is just an exercise for GK and nothing more. To enjoy

learning more, checking what we already know, and discussing. Though

most of members here, may not practice western astrology, but knowing or

keeping oneself aware with the basic terms and what they mean, is always

good.

2) Do not ask me the answers. I may not know all of them.

3) If members are interested I can send few sets more like these. But

every time the questions would be harder and not easy like most of them

above. The above are meant basically for the first year students of

astrology.

4) Fear of failure must not be a reason not to participate. Unless we

fail how will we learn ? Failures are just stepping stones on the way to

success.
