Guest guest
Dear Sreenadh-ji, The threat appears to be real. The following is a part of mail I received from our IS dept. "Conflicker worm Variant C is a malware, which is expected to infect the computer systems world wide on 1st April i.e. tomorrow. This malware is a worm & infects the machines and spread by guessing or 'Brute force' the administrator password of local machine or the network. However, the complete behaviour of this malware is still not deciphered. In order to protect your machine and the LAN, following steps are to be taken: - 1. Your currently installed End-point security system is capable of protecting against this worm. Pl do not uninstall your anti-virus. 2. Pl do not login to your machine using 'Administrator' account. 3. Avoid connecting to the internet tomorrow. However, if you need to go the Internet at all, pl visit known and Secured URLs only. 4. Do not use removable media such as pen drive, portable hard disks etc. Co-operation from all is solicited to protect our data and IT resources."
