Guest guest
Dear Sunil Bhattacharjya ji, ==> Avtarji has even started crying that nobody has given him the chapter numberand the verse number of the verse of the Manu Samhita, where it is mentionedthat a King should consult astrologer. This is so because he reads the ManuSamhita selectively. He quotes Manu Samhita to say that the astrologers are notallowed to attend the Pretakarya etc. but he does not realize that this versealso proves that practice of astrology was prevalent during the times of Manu.Avtarji did not quote the adjoining verses of the Manu samhita where thephysicians and the temple priests are also not allowed to participate thepretakarya ceremonies. This amply proves that Manu had not banned astrogy asotherwise he would have banned medical practice and the pujas in the templestoo. Avtarji also does not believe that the Vedas have mentioned the Ravi(graha), Chandra (graha), Brihaspati (graha) and Rahu (graha). He also does notbelieve that Manu has preferred to use the names of months such as Margashirsha, Phalguna and Chaitra rather than the the names of the months such as Madhu and Madhava. <== I have noticed that much information which in tune with and in support of astrology in present in the ancient text, "Manusmriti" which missionaries against astrology like AKK are trying to project as a book that speaks against astrology! Wouldn't it be great if any of us can write a detailed write-up about the "astrology in Manusmriti" ? For example - * Nakshatra and some of its results are mentioned in Manusmriti * Tithi and some of the results that can be attributed to it are mentioned in it. * This texts clearly shows that even in that ancient past astrology was well known and astrologers were present and well reputed. * Manusmriti proves the existence of predictive astrology even in that ancient past in India. * It proves that astrology was a vedanga and was well reputed. * It proves the strong philosophical connection of vedanga astrology and vedic philosophy. * Manu (the author of Manusmriti) is mentioned among the 12 great propagators of ancient astrological wisdom by almost all texts that gives a list of 18 such sages. * Manu is the original sage who started and propagated a separate school of astrological thought which later become almost lost. * Manu also belongs to the Bhrigu (Asura guru) tradition, which is well regarded even today in astrology. * Manu mentions even the importance of considering astrology related things in marriage matching. [don't give the quot number to AKK, let the missionary find the quote number himself Otherwise blaming alone will continue to be the poor chaps full-time job ] All these points can be elaborated and covered in detail. I hope this mail will inspire someone to prepare a write-up on "astrology in Manusmriti" Love and regards, Sreenadh , Sunil Bhattacharjya <sunil_bhattacharjya wrote:>> Dear Subashji,> > Lord Krishna said in Bhagavad Gita that a yogi who has not attained realization> will take birth in a family of yogis so that he /she can pick up the thread from> where he / she left at the end of his / her earlier birth and can pursue his /> her spiritual journey from that onwards.
