Guest guest
Dear Friends,In astrology, The lagna is considered is the rising sign in the east at the time of epoch. and signs are the part of zodiac. if we consider earth position as static then the zodiac is variable and it moves through out the year from North to South & vice versa. My Query is " Whether to consider the east side with respect to earth's true North or consider it from Zodiac. Guest guest
Dear Dr Kalsi,If I stand at a particular point/place on the earth for 24 hrs, I will get all 360 degrees rising. All lagnas will appear one by one on the eastern horizon of the place where I stand. Lagna is the point of intersection of the ecliptic (the Sun's path) with the eastern horizon of the specific location on the earth. So it is the zodiac movement that one will be concerned with for any particular place while calculating the lagna.Hope this is what you were looking for. Guest guest
Thanks Neelam, You cleared per my assumptions. That means from a particular place , the postion of arc division of each house differ time to time. Like in summers House number which are exposed to Sun have bigger arc length and in winters same houses have lesser arc length. How de we interpret the effects due to these changes in size of houses for prediction.RegardsOn Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 9:05 PM, neelam gupta <neelamgupta07 wrote: Dear Dr Kalsi,If I stand at a particular point/place on the earth for 24 hrs, I will get all 360 degrees rising. Guest guest
Dear Dr Kalsi,The exact path the Sun makes depends on not only the time of year, but also on the latitude of the observer. If you were to go near the Artic or Antarctic circles (latitudes +66 or -66 degrees, respectively), you'd see that the Sun sometimes skims just barely below the horizon for very long periods of time. Near the Earth's poles, the Sun can stay below the horizon for months at a time. So far there's no solution for these extreme case. If Eskimos believed in astrology, what would they do? I wonder!!We use equal house system and some people use Bhav Chalit to be more adventurous. But the actual tool in our hands to take care of such problems is divisional charts where we get to know the true colours of everything. Please go ahead if you wish to propose a solution to this problem. RegardsNeelam2009/2/11 Shivdev Kalsi <shivdev.kalsi Thanks Neelam, You cleared per my assumptions. Guest guest
Dear Neelam Ji,//The exact path the Sun makes depends on not only the time of year, but also on the latitude of the observer.// On the other words we can say that sun as well as zodiac move north and south athrough out the year or we can say that the sun apart from moving horizontally east to west also move vertically. If I am not wrong sun moves 14 degree north to 14 degree south a total 28 degree movement biyearly verticaly. this movement cause the variation in duration of days and night during the year. If we consider a person in India , Suppose a Delhi born native, having birth time of summers :-1. If born at night the size of six houses (12 to 7) will be shorter and that of 1 to 6 will be longer. and vice versa if day born . My querry is 1. it is not causing the equal house theory on wrong foot.2. Is the practice of following ascendent as a horizontal arc sufficient? do the vertical point I mean latitude shall also be a consideration. regards On Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 9:48 PM, neelam gupta <neelamgupta07 wrote: Dear Dr Kalsi,The exact path the Sun makes depends on not only the time of year, but also on the latitude of the observer.
