Guest guest
Dear Robert Patrick, I agree with you that it is said in Ramayana that Ravan has control over nine planets and Hanuman saved the navagraha. Please keep in mind that what ever has been said in Ramayana or other mythological books is in symbolic form. You have to under stand the meaning of that symbol as we do in case of icons in computer. What is the meaning of ten heads of Ravana? Why Rama selected the army of monkey like persons as soldiers? What is the meaning of that the Ravana has made nine planets as his slaves? and so on. Ravana has ten heads means (according to my understanding, though more research is needed) that Ravana was so intelligent that his intelligence was equal to ten intelligent persons i.e. very intelligent. The Money like persons as soldiers in the army of Rama who belong to the family of a king, who knows the use of armory, artillery and missiles etc, Money like persons means illiterate, untrained tribe persons who were healthy, faithful and brave persons and needs little means to live upon. It also teaches that wars are won by such soldiers who are healthy, faithful and brave though not fully trained. ."Ravana made nine planets his slave" means that Ravana has the knowledge of astronomy to such an extent that he knows all the calculations of movements of planets and up-planers and its influence on the human and universe as if they were his slaves. "liberation of nine planets from the slavery of Ravana" means that Hanuman confused Ravana in its calculations of movements and influence of planets that he made wrong calculations and decisions and lost the war. The remaining portion of propitiate the Hanuman and have the blessing of all nine planets is trade gimmicks of pandits for their business. If my views have hurt any feeling of any reader I beg pardon from him. These are my own views. In return the Navagrahas grant Hanuman the boon that any devotee who prays to Hanuman automatically gets the reprieve from the ille effects of the planets. I'd like to know the opinions of the gurus on this forum. Any thoughts? Om Namaha Shivaya, Bob
