What is penumbral lunar eclipse?The shadow of the Earth can be divided into two distinctive parts: the umbra and penumbra. Within the umbra, there is no direct solar radiation. However, as a result of the Sun's large angular size, solar illumination is only partially blocked in the outer portion of the Earth's shadow, which is given the name penumbra.A penumbra refers to a partially shaded outer region of a shadow that an object casts. A penumbral eclipse occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth's penumbra. A penumbral eclipse occurs when the moon passes through the faint penumbral portion of the earth’s shadow. The lunar surface is not completely shadowed by the earth’s umbra (darkest part of a shadow). Instead, observers see only the slightest dimming near the lunar limb closest to the umbra. The eclipse may be undetectable unless at least half of the moon enters the penumbra. The penumbra does not

cause any noticeable darkening of the Moon's surface, though some may argue it turns a little yellow. A special type of penumbral eclipse is a total penumbral eclipse, during which the Moon lies exclusively within the Earth's penumbra. Keep kusha grass (darbhi) with her. let her sit or lay on darbhi/kusha grass (one or two may be fine). Chant god's name. Sanatana gopala mantra will be very good to chant during this times. Dear Sirs,

Please confirm about visibility in India. Its not visible in whole of India, as per my knowledge. For instance its not visible in Maharashtra and in the North, but visible in South and the Coastal belt of W.Godavri district, Calcutta etc.

Dear Bhaskarji & other learned Members,

The Eclipse will be completely visible from places like Andhra

Pradesh,MP, Rajasthan, Moscow to the far east.

The Eclipse will occur at moon rise from the eastern half of Africa to

Western strip of the deccan plateau, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala,

Pakistan, MidEast etc, so it may not be seen completely. Also in

eastern half of europe.

The eclipse will not be visible at all in places like South America,

western half of Africa, part of Mexico, UK, Egypt Morocco, France,

Italy etc.

I hope this helps. However, 2 eclipses occur will occur in a period of

15 days,which is not good. Learned members, any thoughts on Mundane

Astrology??

Notably both the Solar & Lunar eclipse are occurring in

Capricorn-Cancer axis.Mars will already enter Capricorn when the

former lunar eclipse takes place, & start aspecting Saturn. Jupiter

will have no other option than to sit with 1 more malefic & it has

suffering problems since it is RKA. Anything Devastating??Financially

or politically??

I under stand from the above referred NASA web site that Eclipse is visible in

India- areas up to Bangalore.Chennai and Calcutta.

Please also refer to your area panchangam( all local panchangams are worked out

for a specific acshamsa Latitude),if they carry any information about the

ensuing solar eclipse,then it is an indication that the eclipse is visible in

your area.

I checked with the map as given in NASA, which reads that places like

Rajasthan have this eclipse during Moon rise, so they may not

experience this completely. My apologies for not putting the *right

words at the right place*.

It would be clearly visible in AP, coastal regions than TN, Kerala.

> What is penumbral lunar eclipse?The shadow of the Earth can be

divided into two distinctive parts: the umbra and penumbra. Within

the umbra, there is no direct solar radiation. However, as a result

of the Sun's large angular size, solar illumination is only partially

blocked in the outer portion of the Earth's shadow, which is given

the name penumbra.

> A penumbra refers to a partially shaded outer region of a shadow

that an object casts. A penumbral eclipse occurs when the Moon passes

through the Earth's penumbra. A penumbral eclipse occurs when the

moon passes through the faint penumbral portion of the earth’s

shadow. The lunar surface is not completely shadowed by the earth’s

umbra (darkest part of a shadow). Instead, observers see only the

slightest dimming near the lunar limb closest to the umbra. The

eclipse may be undetectable unless at least half of the moon enters

the penumbra. The penumbra does not cause any noticeable darkening of

the Moon's surface, though some may argue it turns a little yellow. A

special type of penumbral eclipse is a total penumbral eclipse,

during which the Moon lies exclusively within the Earth's penumbra.

Total penumbral eclipses are rare, and when these occur, that portion

of the Moon which is closest to the umbra can appear somewhat darker

than the rest of the

> The eclipse will not be visible in Eastern Canada and the eastern

USA will miss the eclipse entirely since the eclipse begins after

moonset. It is visible in the western Canada and the USA will have

the best views with moonset occurring sometime after mid-eclipse.

It's also visible in western, central, mountain timezones of the

united states and canada along with certain parts of eastern usa and

canada (Please check the visibility map). To catch the entire event,

one must be in Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, or East Asia. Eclipse will

> Precautions for pregnant women:

> When eclipse is visible there is a punyah kala. If eclipse is not

visible in your area then there is no punyakala and hence she doesn't

have to worry about what to observe in eclipse all together. If an

eclipse is visible in your area then she shouldn't go out during

eclipse, stay home, Not to eat or drink anything except regular

medications. Keep kusha grass (darbhi) with her. let her sit or lay

on darbhi/kusha grass (one or two may be fine). Chant god's name.

Sanatana gopala mantra will be very good to chant during this times.

Pray to lord. If required take rest.
