The most lucid explanation is in Bhaaratiya Jyotisha by Nemichandra Jain,

published by Jnaanaprrtha.

But do not believe this whole book to be true. History and Phalita are bogus

sections.

Nemichandra Jain was a Jain, not a Hindu like Chandraswamy.

Nemichandra Jain was biased against ancient Hindu texts. He took

everything from ancient Hindu texts of astrology, but instead of

acknowledging it, he belittled those very texts.

I cited this person for you because original texts may be too

difficult. Read Brigat Parashara Hora Shastra, if you want to get the

original and earliest existing source of method of computation of

bhaava-chalita.

Sirs,

I agree with Vinay Jha ji that Bhartiya Jyotish by Nemi Chandra Jain

is definitely a good book to learn how to work out Lagna and the

Dasham [ MC ]. He describes the procedure in great detail to work out

the lagna through Palabha maan and then to work out the Dasham [MC].

Most of us learnt to work out the lagna and the dasham through this

book.

For Jyotish Ganit, I have found two volumes of Ganit khand by B L

Thakur published by Motilal Banarsidas as most exaustive.

Sincerely,

SP Khurana
