Guest guest
Dear Sreeram, Yes, I agree with all that you say. I have seen gemstones bring remarkable results and I have seen them appear to bring no result or even when incorrectly recommended bring deleterious results. And of course there is also Mantra and Yajna. This is for the Jyotishi to decide which would be best for the individual. Of course whenever possible we would want to "avert the danger before it comes" ("heyam dhukam anagatam" as Maharshi Patanjali writes in Yoga Sutras) but sometimes this may not even be possible and the individual must bear some unfortunate karma. Unfortunately self-interest and greed seem to be a governing factor in most human commercial transactions. There certainly seems to be a lack of sattva in the marketplace. Here in the US some of the few Jyotish Gem Merchants have made private agreements with Vedic Astrologers that they will pay a commission back to the astrologer if they refer their clients to the gem dealer for gems. Often it is 10%. I am one of the few who do not engage in such practices. I want to give my clients the best value for their money and I cannot do that if I have to add a 10% commission to the cost of the gems. The astrologers that I have the honour and good fortune to work with also want to see the greatest benefit come to their clients and do not want a commission from gem sales. They feel that it would not be good for their karma and it is enough that they usually charge for their services as an astrologer. We share in common the desire that the life of our clients be enhanced and made more harmonious, peaceful and prosperous. And that is enough. I have found in my experience that when the primary intention and motivation is to provide honest value to the client that benefits their life, then I do not have to think about money and profit for myself. It takes care of itself and I am relieved of any worry or need to think much about it. For me prosperity is having enough and not having to think about it. There are much more precious things to occupy ones mind and heart with then business. I send my best wishes to alll members of this group for the new year, Leon
