Guest guest
Dear Friends, My journey to Shreenathji was a memorable one. It was a revisit after 15 years to this important religious place of the Pushti margis. A short note on my journey for those interested - We started on the 26th morning from Bombay, 70 of us, and reached Nathdwara on the 27th morning where about 500 Members of our family accumlated frm all parts of India. On the 27th we visited Kankroli temple which is a temple where idol of Dwarkadesshji is installed. This temple is about 65 kilometres from Udaipur and about 18 kilometeres from Nathdwara.Dwarkadesshji is another name for Lord Krishna. On the 28th we were in Nathdwara itself. On the 29th there was Chhappan Bhoga. This Bhoga, means a offering of 56 types of sweets to the Lord. This event involves an expenditure of about 20 + Lakhs which was sponsored by the elders of the family who were hosting the event. On the 30th we visited Eklingi temple which is a temple of Panchamukhi Mahadevji installed by the first Raja of Mewar, Bappa Rawal. This temple is about 22 kms from Nathdwara, and I have never seen a finer temple than this, in my Life. It has got 108 temples within the main temple, and the architect of this temple is the same who was the architect for the Khajurao. The intricate white marble stone designs and carvings are just heavenly to look at and cannot be explained in mere language of words. We also visited Ghasiyar which is few kilometres away from Nathdwara and the original place where Shrinathji was installed originally for 8 years before being shifted to the present place. This temple bears the same structure which is replicated in the present Shrinathji. Before leaving back for Bombay on the same day, we also visited Haldi ghati, or the place where Maharana Pratap fought his last battle . We visited the famous muesum dedicated to Maharana Pratap. Haldi ghati got its name because obviously that place is full of Ghatis ( Valleys ) on wich the Great Maharana Pratap enforced Gurella tactics, on the slopes and heights in which techniques the Mughals were not well versed with as they were habituated to fighting on the planes. The name Haldi is added because the colour of the sand on the mountains resembles like Haldi ( Yellow), and when our car passed through those yellow mountaibns on either sides, it was as if we were transported 450 years behind , to the times of Raja Maharana Pratap. We were also shown the actual topography on a model of the whole Haldighati and the place and jheel and the huge slope which the faithful horse fo the Great King, Chetak tranversed, with 3 legs ( One leg was broken when Chetak mounted on the horseof Raja Mansinghs elephant when Raja Maharana pratap missed his aim and hit the elephant instead of the rider ) and still managed to run 5 kms away from the battleground to bring home his Owner, to safety. The temple and other matters - Nathdwara is situated 48kms to the North East of Udaipur. It is not known as a temple or a mandir, rather called as Shrinathji ki Haveli because it is said that Lord Krishna lives here. The temple ( I will call it a temple for normal parlance ) has got Ghee well, A Gold and Silver Chakki ( Grinding wheel ), the actual Ratha ( Chariot ) in which Shrinathji was brought here from Jatipura, Doodhghar, Paanghar, mishri ghar, Pedaghar, Shaakaghar, Phoolghar,Rasoighar,Gahnaghar,Kharcha bandaar, Prasaadi bhandaar, Ashvashala, Gajashaala, Dhruva baari, ShriSudarshan Chakra, Saat Dhwaja ji, Baithak of Shri Mahaprabhuji, Shri Vavneetpriyaji mandir etc ( Thats all I can remember at the present ). All above terms are self explanatory, for instance the Paan ghar is the room where Paan beeda is made for the Lord Shreenathji. Phool ghar is the room where flower garlands are made. I was fortunate to receive the Paan as a gift from the Lord ( This Paan you can see on the Photo Plates of Lord Shrinathji below his right feet )which was offered to Him for the day. This gift I received within 10 minutes when I offered my name for the Lords flower garland at Shayana time for the day. I also received other gifts like a part of Dhwaja and the itra ( scent ) offered to the Sudarshan chakra and which subsequently becomes parasadi and carries lot of potent power in it. Short notes on some interesting objects - Dhwajaji - Or the Flags which one sees atop the temples. There are 7 flags of various colours atop the temple of Shrinathji which represent the clothes for the Sakhis with whom the Lord played. When Lord stole the clothes of the sakhis when they were having bath at the river side, he then later on promised them, that wherever I will stay , you will never have dearth of clothes. Thus you will find at times thousands of Flags or dhwajas offered by the Devotees annually , and the number is increasing daily. Now there is a price on sponsoring these Dhwajas which goes in thousands due to over load of people coming up with their desire to sponsor these. The sakhi Jamunaji ( or Yamunaji ) is represented by the colour Red, and there is a special Dhwaja for her, which is Red coloured and only reshmi ( Silk ) . This is because Lord Krishna spent his childhood in majority on the tat of Jamunaji ( Banks of Yamunaji ). Dhruva Dwar On the first floor of the temple there is a hall known as Kamala chowk where the devotees sit waiting for the doors to open for Darshan, or for seva purpose. Here there is a small window made of Silver. This is nown as Dhruva Dwar or khidki. We all know about Bhakta Dhruva. When the Lord decided to rest here in Shrinathji ( Nathdwara ), His Bhakta Dhruva asked him, how will I see you, if you go there ? Then the Lord said that You will have a special darshan of me . This window atop the wall is so made, that the Dhruva Tara can see the Lord through this window. Which means from where the Dhruva Tara is placed in the sky, Dhruva can see directly in the interiors of the temple exactly on the spot where we receive the darshan of Lord Shrinathji resides and the place of Darshan. Some more interesting things like above, to talk about in my next mail...... Forgive my grammatical and spelling mistakes. I never have time to recheck or re-read what I have written. Those who do not like the above, abstain from commenting please, but do not talk detrimentally if they do not find any of above logical or pleasing or appealing. . best wishes, Bhaskar. Guest guest
Dear Bhaskarji, The temple is refereed to as Haveli. All pusthimargi temples are called havelis and are located in a residing place. This is a tradition, as the story of installation of Shreenathji bears out. It was to avoid unnecessary attention from Mughal cheftains & others who were hell bent on destroying the temples.  Chiranjiv Mehta --- On Thu, 1/1/09, Bhaskar <rajiventerprises wrote: Bhaskar <rajiventerprises Re: My Journey to Shrinathji - Part 1 Thursday, 1 January, 2009, 9:37 PM Please Read // One leg was broken when Chetak mounted on the horseof Raja Mansinghs elephant when Raja Maharana pratap //  as  One leg was broken when Chetak mounted on Raja Mansinghs elephant when Raja Maharana pratap...  rgrds/Bhaskar.     ancient_indian_ astrology, " Bhaskar " <rajiventerprises@ ....> wrote: > > Dear Friends, My journey to Shreenathji was a memorable one.
