Guest guest
Dear friend Sreenadh-ji, I must confess that I think I fall into the category of the fools, since I slightly disagree with the approximation used in this write-up. Biologically many factors govern human breathing time, that is the very reason that normal heart beat is a range and not a figure. The rotation of the Earth is also approximated. Also, the period of time this would have been true (if at all) should be mentioned to render completeness in this article. Rishis didn't always document all possibilities and thus comes in the factor of Sthana, Kala and Patra. Atheists and Homosexuals were not so open in ancient ages and yet I donot know if their is a dictum which explains what a 5th. house (or Saptamsa) could mean for a gay and a 9th. House for an atheist. I believe that the time period of classics should be taken into account and the dictum looked in the light of the then age. Unless we do so, many theories may just be theories to us and we may not be able to apply them in real life. However, I am nothing but a mere learner and thus please don't hesitate to correct me. Guest guest
Dear Souvik ji, Many questions remains unanswered and will remain so - we can only ponder as much as our abilities and available info help us reach upto. //> I believe that the time period of classics should be taken into> account and the dictum looked in the light of the then age. Unless we> do so, many theories may just be theories to us and we may not be able> to apply them in real life.// Agni Purana - I don't know when it was written. But the info it contains is much ancient than AD 4th century for sure. Aryabhateeeya - This is a text of 5th century AD. By the way the given article was nothing about "application in real life" but just and informative one - a bit related to science and a bit with Yoga. Practical application in astrology was NOT an intended purpuse for me while writing that article, and I never mentioned it so. But, yes, I agree that in an astrology group, applicable information has more weight compared to such info (for info) - i.e. information shared without keeping any 'practical application' or 'real life application' or 'usefulness' in mind. Guest guest
Dear Sreenadh-ji, Thank you for mentioning the time frames. Please do not misunderstand me. I inquired about the time frame as recently I was pondering over the question of ownership of zodiacs by planets and discovered the importance of Solstice dates in ancient world. Guest guest
Hi Sreenadh Ji, I quite liked your effort in establishing correspondences between the self and cosmic rhythm. The time scales as in the Vedic system of time reckoning too finds its correspondence in the lower as well as higher orbits. The life of Brahma which is 3.11E+11 years and the duration of Kalpa which is 4.32E+9 years – the principal numerals – 3.11 & 4.32 too has its resonance in the 360 day and 365 days cycle of the earth. 360 days = 3.1104 E+7 seconds. 365 days = 3.1104 E+7 + 4.32 E+5 seconds. This could be dismissed as coincidence or excellent numerology but for the probing mind it might make a lot of sense. Probably the modern clock has its origin in the above Vedic reckoning of time. Embedded in the above is also the value of the precession of equinox of 50 arc seconds.
