Guest guest
Dear Mr. Chandu2chill, I have read the scriptures many times since my childhood, yet to come across one sloka where the vedic scriptures or sciences { yoga or astrology or....etc...anything for its name sake} have been cursed. Infact the Upanishad clearly speak about Karma siddhantam {laws} in full texts i.e. few upanishads are dedicated in explaining the concepts. This type of stories are spread by those missionary zeal people who would like Astrology to be dead. Guest guest
Dear members, I have heard such a story about Vidhata's curse on Narad, who is considered to be the instrumental in spreading the knowledge of astrology among masses. Another such story exists where Parvati curses an astrologer (and astrology) for predicting the number of moles in her upper thigh. I love mythology! Regards, Souvik
Guest guest
Dear Mr. Souvik, Agree every body heard, but I am asking or trying to know where in ORIGINAL texts ?? To me this appears to be a case of - Squint eyed witness giving testimony in a court in a criminal case, where he identifies the criminal - but due to his squintness, he "appears" to indicating the judge !!! Guest guest
Dear Sunil ji, Let me address this to you though the subject is discussed by two other learned members since I remember you indicating about using astrology as a 'self service' profession. To be frank, I am not aware of any of these curses. But after reading the following, I felt if any astrologer should be cursed,.. [though I personally do not approve cursing anyone for anything]... it should be the selfish money hoarder misleading the clients in the pretext of doing a service to them. " All that astrology means for some people who learn the subject is their own and the horoscopes of their family members. Inspite of my discouraging it, no one seems to stop except those who become professionals and trade in the misery of their clients by talking of Kaal Sarpa Yoga and remedial measures to earn quick money fabulously. Very few get interested in it and try to do honest research and replicate it ..... " - Sri K. N. Rao Rao ji speaks the truth when he says most learn the subject to read thier own destiny. It would be easier to see one's destiny if one leads a dharmic life as good karma will invariably promise a good future. blessings, Renu , " sreeram srinivas " <sreeram64 wrote: > > > Dear Mr. Souvik, > > Agree every body heard, but I am asking or trying to know where in > ORIGINAL texts ?? Guest guest
Hare ramakrishna dear grp . if u see logicaly why saraswthi shud curse an astrologer ( pundit --means who learned in many sastras ,Prashna maarga says aneka hora thanthrankja ,ooha poha padu etc ,means knower of many things and diffrnt horas and very good in anaylitical skills ) .Dear grp i use pundit in real sense and not as castic remark which was given for some castes in later stages in india . So if u see a astrologer or pundit is devoting to saraswathi ,so he has good knowledge and blessing frm godess saraswathi. But if usee laxmi will not be with many of astrologers ( so some ppl intrepret as a curse which is not true and it reflect the mental frame work of society ) . Actualy unless the society support ,there will b less follower for saraswathi ,that is why old rajas and land lord make it a duty to support poets ,singers ,musicians ,dancers astrologers ,teacher ,gurukula and all kind of gurus I know even agricultural societies (mean even b4 kingships originated ) they contribute a % of the farm produce to various gurukulas and it will b reached in gurukulas without no one forcing . Even if u see todays world its applicable A teacher ,scientist or professor is getting less than frm some one in IT or BPO jobs ,Some ppl in govtments service has good power and chance to make good money ,but if u see a sincere teacher is not earning what even a pan walla earns ( rajiv gandhi said it and he wanted to abolish such system ) ,Now u can see some one who is in business and some one who is traditionaly follows only knowledge , these days each projects is 10 of 1000s crores and imagine waht the real contributers for society gets .Now even money is ruling so the age old customs of even kings who come down frm throne and salute a guru by placing his head in his feet is gone . So think abt it in real sense and dont b carried away by some not so serious statements . regrds sunil nair om shreem mahalaxmi namah , "sreeram srinivas" <sreeram64 wrote:>> > Dear Mr. Souvik,> > Agree every body heard, but I am asking or trying to know where in> ORIGINAL texts ?? Guest guest
Dear Sunil ji, Thanks...for the reply. "see even they dont hav a valid reason why saraswathi shud curse certain ppl who handles some branch of knowledge .And she is supposed to b godess of learning .' Exactly...controversial statements. Sounds stupid. "other wise even rishis curse with a solution given .And they hav valid reason too .if u check on puranas " What do you mean? That risihis DO curse...and they have valid reasons for that? Rishis are supposed to be good people. Right? So why would they curse anyone? [i'm ignorant on this...that is why asking from you.] blessings Renu , "sunil nair" <astro_tellerkerala wrote:>> > > > Hare ramakrishna> > > > dear renu ji> > > > All this are add ons which happened later period and it has no> scriptural approvals> > > > This are created ones frm time to time ,which may serv some ones purpose> like North indian version of astrologers shud not charge or ask money .> > > > Its good for cheaters and it wont allow serious self respecting> astrologers in profession .Also some one want s to kill astrology frm> our tradition ,so keep on propogating this kind of stories .> > > > i always says old manthara in ramayana re born with lil eduation has> become newpaper ,media journalists and they also lovs to spread this> kind of theorys and stories without checking ..( now journalism is a> cource which dont need any calibre except wat marks u got in some> subjucts )> > > > other wise if any one knows history or tradition or culture or even> essence of vedas wont support or try to spread this stupid theorys .> > see even they dont hav a valid reason why saraswathi shud curse certain> ppl who handles some branch of knowledge .And she is supposed to b> godess of learning .> > other wise even rishis curse with a solution given .And they hav valid> reason too .if u check on puranas> > > > regrds sunil nair> > > > om shreem mahalaxmai namah> > > > > > > , "renunw" renunw@> wrote:> >> > Dear Sunil ji,> >> > "but the main focus of discussion was curse of saraswathi which is not> > logical to an astrologer .I heard the story in south where Lord shiva> > cursed lord karthikeya his son ( as if let us sastra be in correct at> > times ) ,as he is also astrologer when he predicted that lord shiva> > will beg and liv in shamsan ( graveyrds ) .similar storys are there> may> > be in many languages "> >> > I don't understand why a god/godess would curse anyone at all.
