Gurus and the group policy

Dear Madhav ji, I was reading through the mails in the group and just came across the following mail. It is good that a very knowledgeable individual like you came forward to share your knowledge on astrology; we welcome that. But please note that as a group policy we have NO GURUS in this group. Many well knowledgeable members in this group is worthy enough to be a good gurus still they are NOT acting as one. Because it is a "group" and the purpose of a group is to "Share and Discuss knowledge among FRIENDS"; No guru-sishya relations here; since the group DOES NOT aim at becoming a online tuition center, free training center for a teacher-student relationship providing sequential lessons. It is a place for researchers to share their knowledge (while doing research in their own flow); It is a place to ask doubts (about astrology and NOT about personal horoscope) and get a reply (if some one wish to give one); It is just a place to feel at home (while keeping our own individuality and interests). The group is serious about research and re-construction of ancient knowledge and keeps a casual approach towards teaching-learning (this is NOT important to us in the current situation). So as a rule - there is NO GURUS in this group and never will be. And none accepts (and should accept) anyone else as his guru in this group. People who communicate here are from different paramparas, some going to hundreds of years and some recent ones. Many belong to no parampara at all and just newcomer sincere learners without any kind of prejudices. Please see this situation and I know that a well knowledgeable individual like you can easily see the facts. (A reference to the group archives and files section would be helpful, since we keep both of them clean of useless mails to make the search easy for knowledge seekers). I greatly appreciate your attitude towards sharing knowledge and the great potential and ability that resides in you. But please refer to the files section and archive (as a home work), and realize the fact it is such potential present in this group (let it be Neelam ji, Chandrahari ji, Vijya Narasimha ji, Sunil ji, Vinita ji or others) that makes this group worthy. So let us go for a healthy sharing than to a search for sishyas.Love and regards,Sreenadh , "vrajleela" <vrajleela wrote:

Re: Exaltation of Rahu

Dear membersI was taught "Bala jyotisham vriddha vaidyam" meaning a young daivajna (astrologer) is as good as an old vaidya (doctor) and it requires some serious thought to digestComing to classification of age(wisdom) and subject(knowledge) to east and west respectively, may be too generalization. Because, east governs jnana(wisdom), south bhoga(pleasure), west krushi(hard work) and north mukti(emancipation) and these four directions are understood as "Oordhava Tiryagbhyam" = Vertical and horizontal in shad-darshana parallance or Vaishnava and Saiva philosophy in general and in astrology particular. Since it is felt that "keep the subject as main focus than the personalitiesbehind it......" I was taught regarding subject and person as sishya(pupil) and guru(preceptor) like this:There exists four types of relationships of Guru-sishya (in ascending order)

There will be a person say sishya who does not care for either jnana or guru who is called adhama (zero)

There exists a person who does care only jnana but not guru is paada sishya (quarter or 1/4), example: Karna who's interest is only to gain jnana from Parasuram There exists a person who does care only guru but not jnana is sama sishya (half or twice of paada sishya) like Ekalavya who's interest is to learn jnana only from a particular acharya like Drona There exists a person who does care both guru and jnana is called Poorna sishya(full or twice of sama sishya) like Arjuna. All these four persons are addressed as Poornam thadartham thadartham = Full half of it and half of itSince the word "parampara" is used, which is a very high and sacred one, I am doubtful whether this exists in a mode of learning like this?Hence, if member/s of this forum/s are very serious to learn true knowledge of Jaimini and Varhamihira from me, I have some proposals which I will disclose after satisfactory responseTill thenJai JaiminiJai VarhamihiraJairadhe > , "sreeram srinivas"> sreeram64@ wrote:> >> >> > Dear members,> >> > In Hindu legacy, we have given importance to age,....while westerners> > have given to subject authority.
