Dear Friends,An important contribution of astrological

approach is to unravel the hidden forces in operation in an individual.

Ordinary individual is not able penetrate the camouflage and hence is duped. It

is important to understand the astrological impulsions in a native to place his

actions in the right perspective.

The moral and ethical issues assume greater

significance for those who are themselves the seekers and practitioners of

spiritual sciences. Some of our astros are known for their good and ethical conduct

whereas some and stoop to abysmal level and bring disgrace to the whole

community. It is also seen that the spiritual merit of the first set will

always be more than the second set. Both these are like hand in glove…

What could be a simple method of assessing

the esoteric merit of a chart. How could we see the clean persona vs a

blemished persona and the grades in between? There are people boasting of

various exalted placements in the chart…they need to be seen with the right light

as far as esoteric study is concerned….it is a different matter if the person

in question is a political aspirant like mayawati…

Here are some thoughts…..look at these to

'assess the chart at a glance'… of course one can go on and on with extensions,

but I am trying to touch upon the basic principle from where all else could be

derived.

Anyone taking the ardous task of voluntary

spiritual development must have well harmonised luminaries and Jupiter. All

these three planets, should not only be strong, but also well-placed, and well

aspected. Although a perfect combination may not be seen, the various levels could give a clue to the potential for development...how far...and thus far...

We get to see hoards of self-proclaimed

godmen hovering around. In case we want to test the waters, these three planets

and there inter-relationship needs a careful scrutiny to bare their true selves.

In fact, if one sees a special attribute

attached to a particular planet, say exaltation, debilitation, own house,

retrogression, etc., that is where the focus of the chart lies. Here we get to

see the highlighted 'pravritti' (can't think of an English word) of a planet.

They have a deeper meaning in esoteric domain. They are the keys to uncode the

message.

Now, having an exalted or a strong planet, may not be a boon!!…in fact, this very planet will be the bane if it is not well

aspected and not in harmony with the luminaries. It will be worse than a normal

planet. One can shrug-off a thief trying to steal, but what if a priest tries

to steal….it is like that…

We cannot brag about a Leo sun. In Leo, the

sun makes an individual self-centred and the message is that: You are God. In

case the individual should rightly, in all humility, which could happen if he

is spiritually evolved, comprehend the message, it will lead him to glory.

Otherwise the strain of the impulse becomes unbearable, often leading to

misplaced priorities and disgrace. A leo sun needs to be totally free from

afflictions for right spiritual growth. Leo Sun in 6H becomes a dangerous

placement, especially if it becomes afflicted also. Since this house is also

the karmsthan of Dharma, an affliction to this sun will be like being a priest

in the day but going on a murdering spree by the night.

Moon is the reflective, perceptive,

intuitive and meditative qualities of higher mind, the Chitta and it should be

strong. A strong moon with positive aspects and yogas help in producing

conditions that would not disturb the placidity of mind. These yogas and aspects

strengthen or weaken the reflective qualities of the luminary and test and

activate its response to various environmental conditions. A moon which is

debilitated will have a desire to move in the realm of psychic experiences and

will have a craving for such forbidden pleasures which destroy the

susceptibilities of the individual to higher realm impulses. A debilitated

moon, in 2/12 from Jupiter, shows the inability of mind to reflect the

qualities of a higher mind.

Jupiter is closely related to higher principles

in man. It has special relationship with the luminaries. It imbibes the

liberating nature of the luminaries. Jupiter helps an individual in harnessing

the spiritual forces for the attainment of higher goal. While the sun provides

the spirit, Jupiter provides the channel for its expression. A Jupiter, say in

sagitarius, would be praiseworthy, only if it is sound. If this Jupiter is

retrograde, there is a blemish and somehow, by nature this Jupiter is not

accepting its position in the sign. It wants to go the 'other way'. The same

principle applies here. Although it becomes strong, but strong in what way?.

All the classics have forbidden such a planet to enter in any yogas. This is

where precisely the problem lies in the individual. The house will tell us the

problem and the person somehow is stubborn related to his misplaced wisdom in

that area.

We need to assess the positions of these

three important planets to know the real esoteric merit of a chart. Astrology

is more of a science for esoteric principles than for any other area of life.

Goal of man might have undergone changes with time, but the purpose of soul has

remained the same and what our classics say is absolutely relevant in esoteric
